Sugar Land Pool Bid (Houston, Texas)

The pricing seems to be in-line with what we are seeing here in Dallas. Builders appear to be very busy and in just my neighborhood, I’m seeing a builders sign going up every few days. For anything more than just a hole in the ground you were looking at $95 to $115k.

Thanks Jim - I meant to ask about the SVRS option. The builder says it’s for safety but I was under the impression that the drains are all designed currently to prevent someone from being stuck and that needing this built into the pump isn’t necessary. I do have a tendency to tinker with...

Thanks for the feedback. I think we are going to do the tanning ledge so that the water is 9 inches deep. We are having a hard time deciding on pool depth, but are currently thinking of doing 4-5-4. Builder had recommended 6’ in the middle but that seems like an awkward depth. As far as...

We were thinking to do 12 inches, since we have heard that 6 inches gets very hot here in Texas.

    Prosper, Texas Build

Hello everyone - I posted a couple of months ago when I was starting to meet with pool builders and have finally identified a builder that I really like. We have 3 young kids (7,4,1) so wanted a large tanning ledge but still enough area for them to swim and enjoy as they get older. We also...

Very new to pools...Need advice (build started 5/30/20)

Chris - I’m in Prosper (north of Dallas) and I’ve heard all the same things regarding salt from the builders as well. I’m still going through the design process and it’s definitely an exhausting process. This community has been great in getting a quick education.

Prosper, TX - New Build Project

Thanks, for the feedback. We have a 7, 4, and 1 year old so I’m thinking we would benefit from a tanning ledge for a while as an area for them to stand and splash around or just play when we don‘t necessarily want them in the pool. What are the complaints with gunite spas? Are they...

One more design option. We are thinking of having a fire pit so asked this PB to show us a design that included one. Will have the others update as well. Not sure I like how it looks like we lose a corner of the pool the way he has the cut in on the right side with the chairs shown.

Prosper, TX - New Build Project

The one with the tanning ledge closer to the patio results in a tanning ledge that is 17’x5’6” with a pool that is 27’x13’6”. Or we have another design from a different PB that has the spa and tanning ledge stacked off to one side of the pool. This would mean we can have a wider pool, but the...
