Our 1st spillover spa, a few questions w/ pic

Hello, I'm a seasoned pool owner and longtime TFP member but I've never owned one with the spa option. I've searched the forums but still have a few questions for the pros reading this post... 1. How do I identify which mfg & model spa we have so I can order a cover for it? 2. We live in NW...

Calling all heated pool junkies....we have questions :)

I found this calculator on https://www.discount-pool-supplies.com/heatingcosts.php By their estimates - I'd spend $47 do raise the temp 30deg. Not too shabby, and we'd only be maintaining that temp for 6hours or so. Their results are below. Total Gallons = 18700 Wind Speed Average = 3.5 MPH...

CalSpa runs for 10-20sec then shutsoff - readout shows 000

Good feedback - This morning I emailed CalSpa customer service a picture of the tub so they could identify which model I have and I can download the correct owners manual. I also mentioned the error code and shutoff problem. I'm waiting for their reply. I guess I'll start troubleshooting the...

CalSpa runs for 10-20sec then shutsoff - readout shows 000

We've purchased a home that happened to have a non-operational hot tub. Last Fall I cleaned it out, filled it up, turned it on and it ran for 10-20 seconds then shutoff. The control panel screen flashes 000 when this happens. Then I have to flip the breaker Off/On to be able to start the tub...

Calling all heated pool junkies....we have questions :)

Thanks for the feedback everyone! We do have natural gas connected to the heater and our estimates come out to about $150 to heat it from 60F to 80-90F. We'll probably wait and get the cover next Spring.

Calling all heated pool junkies....we have questions :)

A few questions for you pool heater junkies! 1. Any idea how to estimate how much water temp loss we should expect between now and mid-October? Or as an example: water tends to stay X degrees above avg air temp. 2. What water temp would you recommend for comfortable swimming when the avg...

    Bleach prices 2013

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Didn't realize I was overpaying for bleach. We visited the Target nearby tonight and found the BY3GET1 deal which came out to 0.22 So we loaded up the Mini Copper. I confirmed shelf tag says valid through 9/7. About how many days worth of bleach should the avg...

    Bleach prices 2013

So just curious....what is generally accepted as a good price-per-ounce for bleach 6% or 8.25%? We've been buying private label from a local grocery store. It's 64oz of 8.25% private label for $1.98-ish. We have a Supercenter in our town but it's madness going in there. In the next town over...

Installed in concrete, doesn't work, lost cause? (see pics)

Skimmer looks pulled away from shell, silicone everywhere (p So here's the latest and greatest....After seeing the leak yesterday evening. I noticed the hot tub stopped leaking water when water level dropped below the skimmer (or whatever you call it in spa terminology). I took a closer look...

Installed in concrete, doesn't work, lost cause? (see pics)

Re: Installed in concrete, doesn't work, lost cause? (see pi INSERT FAVORITE CURSE WORD!!! My worst fear confirmed....here is a picture of the hot tub leaking through the retaining wall down onto the pool deck. I guess the only good news at this point is that it only leaks when the jets are...

Installed in concrete, doesn't work, lost cause? (see pics)

Re: Installed in concrete, doesn't work, lost cause? (see pi Okie doke. Filled it up. Flipped the breaker. Pump started imediately. After about a minute of the pump running, suddenly the jets came on and stayed on for about 20-30 seconds. Then they shut off, never to turn on again. I went to...

Installed in concrete, doesn't work, lost cause? (see pics)

Re: Installed in concrete, doesn't work, lost cause? (see pi Melt In The Sun, I'm filling it up as we speak. I'll let ya know if the pump fires up a-ok. At this point, I think my biggest concern is that pipes leak so bad that it drains through the retaining wall and into our swimming pool...

Installed in concrete, doesn't work, lost cause? (see pics)

Re: Installed in concrete, doesn't work, lost cause? (see pi JohnT, Yes its probably set in a hole but the concrete stops short about 1/4" from the edge of the spa all the way around. I don't see how anyone or any crane could "grab" it to lift it out at this point. There's not even enough room...

Installed in concrete, doesn't work, lost cause? (see pics)

I'll cut right to it. My wife and I bought a house in December. It came with a "non-functioning" hot tub which the PO had installed into concrete. The house has a pool which is what we were really after  but I thought it would be icing on the cake if I could revive the spa before...
