    Water leaking through overflow drain

So I found a leak underneath my outdoor kitchen. I believe this could be the source of the water.

    Water leaking through overflow drain

You might be onto something here. This gutter's downspout drains into the overflow pipe and I see standing water here. While it did rain for about 10 minutes a few days ago, I would think that the 100+ degree temps would have evaporated it by now.

    Water leaking through overflow drain

I am having issues with one of my AC units. The compressor seems to have shut off. I have the HVAC guy coming out today to look at it and will have him check to see if that's in any way connected.

    Water leaking through overflow drain

An alternate theory is that I have a leak somewhere else that's finding its way into the drain pipe through a crack in the PVC. I've shut off my irrigation system and I'll see if that helps. After that I'll try shutting off the pool equipment for a day or two but I don't think any of my pool...

    Water leaking through overflow drain

The drains are clear and dry. There are no sprinklers near the drains. It's a small trickle. I just tried testing it and I didn't detect any chlorine in it but I will try later further up the pipe. The end of the pipe has a ton of algae so maybe that could have used up any chlorine.

    Water leaking through overflow drain

I should mention that I had contractors do some work around my pool equipment. I do not however see any wet spots near the equipment.

    Water leaking through overflow drain

I do have drains and gutters tied to it. However, we have not had rain in a few days. I've been seeing water along the curb for at least a month now. It has been well below the overflow drain. There's no way any pool water has been getting into there.

    Water leaking through overflow drain

My overflow drain exits out to the street curb. And waste (backwash, etc.) goes to the sewer line. The pool has been at least 1" below the fill line so there should not be any water coming out of the overflow drain. I contacted a pool guy I've used before. He stopped by and emailed that "It...

Is it really necessary to brush the pool?

Ah, okay makes sense. Guess I'll stick with my weekly routine.

Is it really necessary to brush the pool?

Maintaining my pool has gotten so much easier since I found TFT. It's almost too boring now :) I thought I would see what would happen if I stopped my weekly brushing I still have no algae after a month, even with the Texas heat. I understand that as long as your chlorine is at an adequate...

How are pool service guys keeping the CYA down while using Trichlor tablets on non-SWG pools only visiting 1 time a week?

They don't. My neighbors on both sides have pools and use different pool guys. They come by once a week, shock, put some pucks in, and the pool looks clear for a few days. Then chlorine levels drop and they get algae. It's fine in the winter when there's less chlorine burn off but the rest of...

Jandy heater gets really hot in the sun - can I cover it?

Thanks. Maybe I'll just leave it alone :)
