to renew or not renew home warrenty for pool

We just sold our home last fall. We offered/paid for a home warranty with the pool rider for our sellers. (We had a home warranty when we bought the house with the pool rider.) In my opinion it was insurance for our reputation more than covering for repairs. We had no issues with our home or...

My CYA level vs. pool store

Yep...and my pool store told me the water out of my tap had CYA in it...

    CYA test..pool store vs. K2006

True story...took a sample of tap water to the pool store, mostly because I'm just silly like that. CYA was 50 or 60, can't remember...but... There's no CYA in tap water.

    What's This on My Plaster?

I can't address the original question as I'm not familiar with that surface type. However, on first very quick glance as I'm walking out the door... part of the increases in Ph are related to the fountains. Fountains aerate the water. Aeration of water raises Ph. Try shutting the fountains...

    No longer the pool girl...

I left my kit in Indiana. Committee members have run the tests with the one they have, taylor k2005, and it seems as though there is no issue with doing that periodically, especially if we start having water quality issues. I won't instruct or direct the guards to do anything without running it...

In line chlorinator and cya level

$$$$$ Buy these pucks. Buckets of 'em. And then shock weekly. Buy this packet. A case of 'em. A restaurant doesn't stay in business because the food's good. It's the drinks that make the money. Get the razor free...replace the blades. Same concept.

In line chlorinator and cya level

I will ditto that 'oh yeah, it certainly can'. It's called everything is fine until mid season or late season and towards the end you think 'I can't wait to close this thing because I can't clear it up and I'm sick to death of shocking every 6 days'...7 years I dealt with this cycle. The 8th..I...

Thank you! When the pool manager told me 'less than 30' I was a bit nervous that he was using strips instead of liquid reagents. Then he showed me the tube...I didn't want to be so rude as to yank it out of his hand and inspect for myself...even though I wanted to!!! HA! I can't exactly do...

Thanks Dave squared, Butterfly, and Richard, everyone. I'm really glad the knowledge I gained here and in my former backyard is still there and able to put to good use. The HOA committee isn't bad really. I was at my first board meeting tonight though, and wow, that was an experience...I sat...

Checking in. I volunteered to be on the pool committee. I think things are going to be good here. The pool uses 12.5% liquid in big drums with a pump, lines, etc.   The guards are on top of the continuous feed and are very diligent in their work both safety wise and...

I'm pool less...and forced to serve on the HOA of our community pool....I'm officially wearing a black armband for the season in mourning of what I had...and I'm sooooooo hopeful (delusional) that the new owners are nurturing and stroking and babying my (their) pool and hot tub the way I...

Oh, we can have fences. One type/style only, which is fine, actually because they all connect together, ie, my one side is the neighbors side as well. Cost me a 6 pack and a bottle of wine for the neighbors to 'build' the one side of my fence (it was already there). So do you think that with ONE...

Thanks Beave...it's just a process and procedure like everything else. There's not a bunch of people standing in line to be on the committees so I'm not concerned at all. I see the point of HOAs believe me...it was clear when looking for housing here which neighborhoods had tight, regulated HOAs...
