Alkalinity during a SLAM and other questions.

FYI Leslie's Inventory is next week. The manager don't give out free chemical unless it's a scrap.

Chlorine won't hold, CYA not showing?

Leslie test (AccueBlue machine) is not accurate. In fact, if you go to different Leslie stores with the same sample you will get different results from that little machine. Magic acid is a $$ making product for them. They will tell you that it's the same as muriatic acid. It is not.

Hayward swim pure plus 0 salt cell reading

TFP is not a fan of pool stores, but... you could take the Hayward salt cell to Leslie's. That's the only brand of SWG they test.

    After Completion of Pool

Does anyone know... After the Pool is Complete (passed all the inspection), does the county/city send the Certificate of Complete to you or do you have to ask for it? Also, what do I do with the permit box (and the paper work inside it) at the front of the house? Thank you : )

Mystery Pipe? What is it for?

I have a pipe just like that. I live in south Florida, and the water table can get high, so the pipe is used to suck water out from the bottom of the pool. Not sure about pool in IL however.

    Test Equipment Questions

Do you want to share the results of the tests ? The only instrument that I have experience with is AccuBlue from my local Leslie pool store, which is probably the Waterline Spin Touch line. TA always tested low, probably a recal from CYA, not sure. (20 ppm difference). Salt also tested low...

First test results with K-2006. Now what should I do :-)

I found an old thread where mgmoore7 created an excelsheet that calculate pump run time to % setting to amount of chlorine it will produce. https://www.troublefreepool.com/threads/swg-run-time-calculator.122980/ It helped me with my setting.

Pool Startup Cost After New Plaster

My PB outsourced another company to startup my pool. All they did was added bunch of acid (gallons) and chlorine (gallons). They never did any test before or after. I was so upset that I took over the balancing on the 3rd week. They were nice enough to hand over the acid for me to add to my...

    Jack'sMagic Purple and Phosphate remover

I'm on well water, impurity is pretty bad. I didn't have to use it thanks to the heavy rainfall this summer. But, as we get into winter, I won't have a choice. I was just thinking ahead of what I need to do as a preventive measure when I do have to add that water into my pool. I also have a...

    Jack'sMagic Purple and Phosphate remover

I tired to do this in the search, but can't find anything... So, I'm about to put some Jack'sMagic Purple in, and I read that Jack'sMagic Purple will increase phosphate over time. Then, I thought to myself, well, that's ok, I will just use phosphate remover later to reduce the level of...
