    LC % test?

Yes - I totally misread something about retesting after 15 mins thinking that directive was for FC after adding LC! I needed to wait 3 hrs. As far as doing "science experiments", I truly felt the cases of LC might have degraded so it made sense to me to check my pool after adding the LC. That's...

    LC % test?

It's been 3 hrs since I added the LC & I just retested. Pool water is exactly where it was supposed to be after LC addition so for my pool, I need to wait 3 hours for total circulation it seems. Big relief! (I had only waited one hour the first time so while it had more FC than before, it was 2...

    LC % test?

Hi - I suspect the remaining case of LC I bought a month ago might have dropped in potency. Is there a ratio of (non-chlorinated) water to LC I need to follow (using the DPD testing method)? I'm science tech-challenged, so if this is an idiotic question, pls be gentle...;) back story: The...

Vinyl Liner Pattern Roundup Project - Post Pic & Name Of Your Liner

Hi meporchmonkey! Dark liners can/do fade! Our installer for a replacement liner (after 22 years with a light pebble liner) talked us into a very deep blue (navyish). Now, after 10 yrs it's fading like crazy each year... so much I now worry it will be white in the next few years! (orig liner...

    Accuracy of Taylor test strips

I find the AquaChek 7 test strips to be ok when in a pinch or as a back up, but I need to wait at least one minute for the PH to develop to the reading I get with phenol red. I know my PH is 7.6-7.7 but the strips read 6.8 unless I wait that minute (or a bit more even). I think the 15 secs is...

    Low to little CYA

Tks! That's pretty much how I do it, except for the glancing. Just spoke to Wayne at Taylor & he also assured me that the R-0013 is very stable & would turn milky if bad. So about to get some trichlor pucks for the auto feeder to raise the cya as we did last year! But will try your "glance"...

    Low to little CYA

Hi all - Been doing "TFP" since last spring & test chlorine via DPD method. We live in sw CT. Weather's been up & down. Water temp is down to 73 due to cooler weather; entire pool only gets sun from approx 9 am - 2 pm, with a tiny portion getting sun til 4. Hardly using pool (once a week, 8 &...

I have a Mac but found it & have it saved again! So thankful I don't have to use cell phone as I'm old school & like my laptop!

    Old Pool Math?

Hi all! Just opened our pool yesterday and can't seem to find the Pool Math chart that I used all of last year. I can only find apps for cell phone etc. I have a laptop computer I use. I'm sure it's here but have looked for 20 mins so gave up & decided to ask. Tks! (I also wonder where all my...

    Does water sample location matter???

Very normal & you test as I do, including the white paper towel. So all good if one drop clears the pink. Result is read immediately, because waiting will always turn it back to pink! I have no explanation for that but was my first question when I switched over to this test method this year!

    Does water sample location matter???

Burning eyes could signal PH test is off & actual reading might be lower than 7.5. What do you use to test the PH? Check exp date on the bottle if using drops. (mine is expired so on my way to Leslie's...) Good luck!

Taylor Phenol Red 0014 VERSUS HTC phenol red comparator compatibility?

Hi! Can HTH phenol red be switched out for Taylor R-0014? If yes, which of my 2 comparators shown in attached photo should I then use? (I've already switched to using Taylor DPD/FAS as per TFP, but no Taylor K2006 kit because I still had good reagents to use up this year. However, now I see...
