Adding Ozonator to commercial hot tub

It originally was a sodium hypo tub with a CAT 5000 control using a sensor to maintain an ORP set point. I use the set point of that controller in conjunction with a normally closed solenoid valve that wyes off the pressure side of the pump for an off-line bromine feeder when it falls below set...

Adding Ozonator to commercial hot tub

Hey guys, Looking for some information/opinions on adding an ozonator to a resort hot tub. Let me give you some details first. 1) It is an outdoor hot tub. 2) 3-step Bromine with 12.5% sodium hypo to shock. 3) approx 5,000 gallons 4) Inground, gunite finish. 5) Bather load between 10-40 on...

    Difference between "backwash" and "rinse"

Excellent, thank you. I've tried to come up with theories based on the PSI. Guess I was over thinking something so simple

    Difference between "backwash" and "rinse"

Guys, I'm quite curious as to what the difference is in flow through the sand filter on backwash vs rinse. They both send water through the drain and not back into the body of water, right? So really what does the "rinse" cycle even do?

Spa electrical comes on for second then off again

I would like to clear something up before I throw an answer in for ya. The large plug that has the two buttons "reset" and "test" is a LCDI plug. Is that would keeps tripping causing you to lose power? Or are you resetting something else? Oh yes, also a model number for the spa, and equipment...

'Swim Temp' heat pump STRC2-5 compressor kicks on and off

Re: 'Swim Temp' heat pump STRC2-5 compressor kicks on and of I don't have too much experience with pool heat exchangers that use heat pumps as a method of adding heat. However there are a couple of things that can be looked at. If you have no water flow through the heat exchanger than it's...

    Pump Kicks on and off

That would not work, because you still lack the second hot conductor. You'd need to have a double pole circuit breaker feeding your pump. I'd seek a professional electrician to properly feed this motor.

    Pump Kicks on and off

Bama is correct, the 115v wiring you have uses 1 ungrounded (hot) conductor, 1 grounded (neutral) conductor, and 1 grounding (ground) conductor. Where as 220v is supplied by using 2 ungrounded conductors. When replacing a motor for a pump it is wise to get a match that is as close as possible...

    False calcium hardness test.

Dang I feared such, but didn't want to toss it just in case. Thanks for the confirmation.

    False calcium hardness test.

Can anybody help explain where my calcium test is going sour in my hot tub? I'm hoping that I just have too much bromine, but I don't ever recall having an issue with a high range level like this before. Unfortunately I'm not use to dealing with bromine yet. Bromine: 9 pH: 7.7 Alk: 60...

Green Swamp Back Want a Sparkling Oasis

Have you passed the OCLT? pool-school/overnight_fc_test You'll want to make sure the algae is dead. Otherwise you'll have to start over.

    Sand Filter

Although I'm not really a leak finding expert. I'd suggest double (or triple) checking the drain cap for leaks. Also the air release, pressure gauge and the likes. A steady stream of water could very well be a hairline crack, but I've never experienced one first hand so I can't say for sure...

    Source of muriatic acid?

Sure, MA is MA. BUTTTTTTT if other stuff is in it, I'd watch out. Check the % on it and also shop around for pricing too. Pool stores will carry it.

    Test numbers

Agreed. If it truly is 100k gallons depending on where you are planning on keeping the CYA, you'd need between 30-40 lbs of CYA, not 4. Remember CYA can take a while to register on a test. You beat me to my response. Check the Pool Calculator created by Jason to confirm all the doses. Yes...
