    isolating heat pump

I am in the process of replacing my plumbing due to too many fittings by the pb and needing a new pump. He did not isolate the heat pump initially. Should I have bypass or isolation valves put in the plumbing circuit when I hook it up? If so when would I need to turn it off? Thanks!

    Best variable speed pump??

2" pipe for everything. I put in a check valve after he finally gave up. This has helped quite a bit with priming. I am going to clean up the plumbing in general while I put in the new pump. We are about to go to court as the water feature was never finished, along with quite a few other...

    Best variable speed pump??

It is a fairly large waterfall. Not sure of the flow rate. However it has always seemed underpowered. The pump is about 3 feet above the waterline.

    Best variable speed pump??

The ecostar is the one I have been looking at. I currently have a 1 1/2 hp single speed pump. I doubt that my pool builder really figured out the requirements on my pool. He actrually went through three pumps putting it in because he could not get them to prime. He originally had a 3/4 hp...

    Best variable speed pump??

Unfortunately the pump is shot too. I have to upgrade the whole assembly. Not sure of my kWh cost. I will try to look that up.

    Best variable speed pump??

I have the hayward Pro Logic controller with salt system and I need to replace my pump assembly. I am looking to upgrade to a variable spped pump. What pump will interface with this system the easiest? I have a 20000 gal pool and a water feature. no polaris output or other accessories...

how to evaluate Chlorine generator output

I have a hayward prologic system and the main board was recently replaced. There are no errors showing. We just had several days of rain and the chlorine generator has been set at 50% running 24 hours a day. I tested the chlorine level today and it is negligible. Does this seem right? If I...

    Question about graduated cylinders

Is it just an issue of discolored cylinders with the FAS-DPD? There is no interference with the other tests if I use the same cylinder and replace it periodically?

    Question about graduated cylinders

I have accumulated a fairly complete test kit and am curious as if there is any problem using the same graduated cylinder to perform all the different tests that I do. I have a kit that tests Chlorine, Bromine (Using MPS removal drops), TA, Calcium hardness, Salt, and phosphates all using drop...

    Help with new pump/motor

If I was to replace the entire pump, how do I go about sizing it for my pool?

    Help with new pump/motor

Yes, the flow was acceptable with the original pump/motor combination. I can't remember why the original pump was replaced. Honestly I think it was because of a "shotgun" approach to diagnosing a problem. this was two years ago. last year the pump had to be replaced due to overheating as...

    Help with new pump/motor

The motor is the replacement motor. I do not have the old motor. I assume the impeller was replaced using the standard replacement parts but I am not sure. I know the pool guy doing the work had no idea about matching anything.

    Help with new pump/motor

Spa is completely seperate. Waterfall and pool both run off this pump on a three way valve. Waterfall could be slightly more flow but is acceptable.
