Additional pump and main drain needed for water feature?

Jim, here are my thoughts/questions as a non plumbing expert: Can I have the line exiting my VS pump divert to both my water feature and return? If so, and if I am able to move enough water, it seems as though the only question is if the flow can fulfill what I need. My CPC says we will...

Additional pump and main drain needed for water feature?

Thanks for the replies. I do agree with the waterfalls not being filtered. I know many run the VS pumps at a low speed for an extended time. Is it realistic to push the "low speed" volume of water through my regular circulation while running the water feature? I know that's a bit of a...

Additional pump and main drain needed for water feature?

We are finalizing our remodel and had always planned to add a main drain/dedicated pump for our rock features. Our local CPC/plumbing expert says a large variable speed should be able to handle the job. His reasoning is that it won't be necessary to run the water feature and circulate the pool...

Big PB or a little guy?

I didn't read all the replies, but: Everyone has to start somewhere. The guy you speak of may be amazing, but he cannot build his 6th pool until someone believes in him. Also, especially here in South Florida-everyone uses the same darn subs. Two gunite companies, several rebar companies, and...

Has anyone added massive amounts of natural stone to an existing pool?

Dirk, everything you say makes sense and may be true. On the other hand, people are spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to have these problems. There was a member on this forum who addressed his natural stone and said his pool needed "a few glugs of acid everyday." In terms of...

Has anyone added massive amounts of natural stone to an existing pool?

I don't disagree...but looking through this website there aren't many jobs like we are looking to create...and on the natural stone jobs we have come across, there wasn't much in the way of complaints.

Has anyone added massive amounts of natural stone to an existing pool?

Not quite on that scale, but that job was right down the street from me. Similar though. We are aware that the rocks can affect water chemistry, but find it to be a small price to pay to get what we want.

Has anyone added massive amounts of natural stone to an existing pool?

Yes, adding water falls. Stone will be in the water. We have not seen problems with calcium or algae.

Has anyone added massive amounts of natural stone to an existing pool?

We have a standard 15' x 30' in South Florida. No plans to be found. We are planning to add a significant (24 tons plus) of natural stone to the 15' side of the pool. This will be engineered and properly created, but I was looking to see if anyone had experience with a similar project. We will...

Proper way to install new waterline tile?

@bdavis466 why does it seem some people thoroseal the gunite prior to plaster? Is this an added layer or protection, or is there another reason?

Natural stone effect on water chemistry?

We are looking at installing large natural (Tennessee stone) rock water features in our pool. I have read that this will throw off water chemistry and require significant amounts of muratic acid. Can anyone shed some light on this?
