SWG pool liquid chlorine or SLAM requirements?

Thank you, I was unclear if I had to do the whole process of maintaining the slam FC level, or if I just had to raise it, and throw on the cover. It sounds like your telling me, since the pool is already cold, and will be covered from the sun, that the chlorine will linger much longer through...

SWG pool liquid chlorine or SLAM requirements?

So my pool is now at 54 degree water temp, 50ppm CYA, 5ppm FC, 0ppm CC, and ph 7.5, I am wondering if, when closing, should I simply add some liquid chlorine and cover soon after? Or do I need to follow the entire SLAM process, even though the water is pretty cold, and crystal clear right now.

Closing a newly installed/ filled pool

FWIW, I too replaced my above ground pools liner last year right about this same date, and I filled it almost up to the skimmer also. I also converted it to SWCG this spring when I opened it up, so I just basically left the water as it was, without adding anything at all. I live in Maine, so...

    SWG chemistry question

thanks, I had to order the stabilizer and I’m waiting for it to arrive. So as long as the water stays clear it’s ok to just let the SWG build up the chlorine level, and I don’t have to add any chlorine manually? Mainly my CYA question was about finding the right setting for the SWG to be at...

    SWG chemistry question

I’m sorry but these two replies contradict, also at this moment don’t my readings indicate that the chlorine levels are actually a bit high at the moment? FCH at 5.5 and CCH at .5, I have already been running the generator for a week, although the CYA is still low, the chlorine level went from 0...

    SWG chemistry question

So i have a few questions, first: this is first season with SWG and new clean water, the lady at the pool store said I have to add chlorine directly to the pool, like a shock, even with a SWG to get it up to level, is that true? second: since it’s fresh water with no CYA at first, and the pool...

CYA test sample doesn’t turn cloudy.

Thank you, that helps. Would I be better off getting it in liquid form then? Also, as far as the CH reading of 40, I’ve seen the target level vary considerably, as it sits now would you recommend adjusting now, or should I just check again once I’ve added stabilizer and run the generator a...

CYA test sample doesn’t turn cloudy.

This is the opposite problem I had last summer, when my pool water had crazy high levels of CYA. Since then I have replaced my liner, converted to SWG, and refilled the pool with new city water. Now I have everything up and running and got my salt levels at about 3500ppm. But I am having an...

Converted to SWG with CYA reading 0ppm

I don’t have an answer for you, but I am very interested in what answer you get, since I converted to SWG this spring, and replaced liner last fall, so the water in my pool is basically just tap water (with lots of salt now), but I am also trying to get my water balanced, but like you, my CYA...

New liner, fresh water, going SWG, what to buy?

Sorry to be persistent, but, do you know if, let’s say I got a 15,000gal unit, and it just didn’t keep up, can you replace the cell itself with a higher rated cell? I did read in the comments, that that unit requires you to select the particular model number of which cell you are running, just...

New liner, fresh water, going SWG, what to buy?

Well, this unit here is rated at only 15,000gal, and says it generates 1.05 pounds per day, but it also specifically says they recommend even if you have a VS pump, that you not run it for more than 8 to 10hrs a day. thoughts...

New liner, fresh water, going SWG, what to buy?

Ok, so before I really go looking, what should I be looking at for a size rating, because my current cartridge filter setup is a sta-rite pl100, with 1hp motor, I can’t find exactly what the flow is, but, it says in the documentation max 37gpm, which would be 2,220gph, plus I have 4x6ft solar...

New liner, fresh water, going SWG, what to buy?

So it sounds like you really think these SWG needs to be far bigger than the mfg specifies? This Intex one claims it is for up to 15,000gal. but you said I should use one rated for double? also that Intex one is separate, and my collectors are above the pump unit so I suppose it could always...

New liner, fresh water, going SWG, what to buy?

All good info, I suppose I could keep my filter and pump, but they are both 20 years old, and have got alot of sun in that time, although they do get put indoors each winter. I just figured if that Intex setup was sufficient, it could be a good way to just get it all swapped out at once here...

New liner, fresh water, going SWG, what to buy?

Thanks, I will read those. To be clear, this is a traditional, metal side, above ground pool, so it already has a through the wall skimmer. I was looking at the Intex sand filter w/pump and SWG cell/controller on Amazon, I don’t expect them to be great, but the price is really hard to beat...
