So my pool is now at 54 degree water temp, 50ppm CYA, 5ppm FC, 0ppm CC, and ph 7.5, I am wondering if, when closing, should I simply add some liquid chlorine and cover soon after? Or do I need to follow the entire SLAM process, even though the water is pretty cold, and crystal clear right now.

FWIW, I too replaced my above ground pools liner last year right about this same date, and I filled it almost up to the skimmer also. I also converted it to SWCG this spring when I opened it up, so I just basically left the water as it was, without adding anything at all. I live in Maine, so...

All good info, I suppose I could keep my filter and pump, but they are both 20 years old, and have got alot of sun in that time, although they do get put indoors each winter. I just figured if that Intex setup was sufficient, it could be a good way to just get it all swapped out at once here...
