    Green/Yellow Pool not improving

Here are my chlorine testing reagents: both testing reagents were purchased new this year. (comparator tube is old) Here are the expiration dates: Here is what it looks like after I add the R-0870: and then here after titrating with 16 drops of R-0871:

    Green/Yellow Pool not improving

Thank you so much for all the help everyone! I re-tested this evening and here are my results: FC: 8 CC: 1 TA:50 pH: 7.1 (color between 7.0 and 7.2) CYA: I ran out of the 013 reagent, need to order more. However, I'm confident in my CYA reading from before. I had tested it twice and didn't...

    Green/Yellow Pool not improving

I have not had to add chlorine since over 2 weeks, it was over 20ppm and held overnight. It just now (yesterday) came down below my SLAM level for my CYA. I was testing it several times a day (at least 3), and it would hold steady the entire day. Just within the past 2 days it's started...

I like the idea of a barrel of polyfil. Does polyfil help anything other than metals? And yes, it is foaming somewhat. It has bubbles on the surface. We also have our return pipe aerating, so that could be part of it. Here is another photo where you can see it better:

    Green/Yellow Pool not improving

Here is the water today. We got quite a bit of rain from a recent tropical storm, which seemed to make it look WORSE now. The FC was 10 today. My thought is that since it's been above shock for so long (month or more), my plan is to let it drop down to 4 so I can test the pH and see if maybe...

    Green/Yellow Pool not improving

It's been a week now. In that week we changed out the filter completely, went with a cartridge filter from doheney's, and the free chlorine level stayed above shock level the entire time. I didn't have to add any chlorine in the week, it has been holding steady at 19 for several days. We do not...

Yes, it is Sodium Bromide. Just realized we only put in 2 bags (6oz each), still have 2 full bags that were not put in.

    Green/Yellow Pool not improving

Thank you for the reply! My test kit was pretty old. At first (in april) I noticed that no matter how much chlorine I put in, the R-0870 wouldn't turn the water red. I kept adding more chlorine. This is part of why the FC level is so high. I purchased a new pack April 21st and suddenly...

    Green/Yellow Pool not improving

We opened our pool in April and did all the usual- started the pump, cleared out any debris. The pool was covered all winter. We do this every winter, but this year as been the hardest year to get the pool up and running. It just seems like it isn't responding to anything, and we have spent...

    Strange levels with start-up

When I tested it this afternoon I get: FC 3 TC 3 pH below 7.0 (my test kit only goes down to 7) CYA looks closer to 50, somewhere between 40 and 50 for me

    Strange levels with start-up

We opened up our pool a few weeks ago and started the usual of getting any debris out and balancing it. Once we got all the debris and began shocking it with liquid chlorine, we noticed that it went yellow in color. I thought it might be mustard algae so we upped the level of shock and it...

Best Places to Buy Liquid Chlorine

Pinch a Penny on Sherwood Forest/Coursey seems to have the consistently best price around here. It's $6.99 to refill a 2.5gal jug. The first time you buy the jug it's $13 i think, after that just $6.99 to refill. Also, right now Home Depot in Baton Rouge is having a sale on it's liquid...

Clearing a swamp pool - need help!

**UDATE** It's been about 2 week of running the pump with a sock over the return, filled with poly fill. Every day I change out the poly fill and every day it's full of yucky brown stuff. Now the pool looks like this: http://bit.ly/2wuAnjw It's much better and much bluer, and the only real...

Clearing a swamp pool - need help!

Thanks for the links! I'm going to try the polyfill stuffing and see if that helps.
