    Hayward 2100 temperature sensor problem

Success! I ended up buying both Balboa sensors on Amazon: The Balboa M7 ($28) and the Balboa 25-175-0377 ($19). Contrary to the nonsense Balboa tech support gave me about these being standard 10K sensors like the Hayward GLX-PC-12-KIT that does not work in the 2100 system, both of these...

Maytronics robot behavior when AC is connected

Frequency of replacing bearings on this one is a consideration at $25 * 10 bearings with the first 2 failing in 1 year. Not difficult but dumb costly design.

Maytronics robot behavior when AC is connected

I am not all that happy with my TigerShark. I may craigslist it. Can't decide quite yet.

Maytronics robot behavior when AC is connected

What do the Maytronics cleaners do when the AC is powered on? Do they automatically just run a cleaning cycle? My old Hayward TigerShark with no controller smarts runs a cycle when plugged in and on. I currently use that with a wall timer. I am thinking of finding another home for this...

The gods of Hayward bite me again..

For any TigerShark DIY folks coming after me, the screws are a lot easier to deal with if you have a small battery screwdriver. A couple minutes and they're all in/out that way. The cleaner probably needs to come with a battery screwdriver from the factory :)

    Dolphin nautilus ccplus or s200

What happens when the external power comes on on the Maytronics cleaners like the s200? Does it just start a cleaning cycle? I know with my TigerShark that's how it behaves. So with external control of the AC power (timer, alexa, whatever) you can start or schedule a cycle. Just curious on...

    Hayward H400IDL banging

Well, most of the studs did not cooperate with the tech getting the old manifold off. INYOpools (thanks @patrick3229) had a new/replacement heat exchanger and the order was placed. I guess its now going to be mostly a new heater and good for another 18 years.

    easiest robot to DIY repair

I'm curious if anyone has any strong feelings one way or the other, but what's the easiest robot to do repair/maintenance on? I realize it's mostly parts swap maintenance I am talking about, including parts price/availability. Thanks for any opinions.

The gods of Hayward bite me again..

They each have 9 balls, so one is still in the pool. To be honest, I don't see how/where they are broken, they are just "apart" and can be reassembled fairly easily (minus one ball) and sort of put back into place. They just slip fit back into the body and are held together by the outside...

Waterfall pump vs VS? or other unfiltered feature solution

Yep, that VS motor need to be about $200 :) Maybe in another 10 years. It will be. I really don't need another "project" if I am being honest.

The gods of Hayward bite me again..

Both the drive bearing and the guide bearing and the drive bearing looked "failed" to me. The cage (bearing separator) was broken. Reasonably easy repair but I question the need of the cover retention screws waaay up in the upper corners of the body. They're there only to thwart repair...

The gods of Hayward bite me again..

Thanks. I will probably do an exploratory surgery in the next day. I see you have an Active 30i now... I assume all of these bots have ball bearings rollers, pulleys, and wheels?

Waterfall pump vs VS? or other unfiltered feature solution

I found the label and my old Northstar is a SP4015X20NS. That motor is interesting and and probably an interesting potential project. I am wondering how much life I can get out of a 18-year old NorthStar wet end or if there is anything I am missing. I'd want to replace all the inexpensive...

The gods of Hayward bite me again..

Should be under warranty for another couple years. The trade off is warranty seems to take our locals places about 3 weeks. Vs $ and amazon or getting bearings here in a couple of days. I will have to see how many and where these little guys need repair. You probably live 5 miles from me...

The gods of Hayward bite me again..

I found a 8 little ball bearings rolling around in the body of my Hayward Tigershark QC (1 year old) today. Not inside the filter but behind it in the filter cavity. It seems to run ok but I fear the wheel bearings might in-fact have ball bearings in them, although it is not possible to tell...
