Pentair Master Temp 400 - difficulty starting after rain

Sequence is: Blower comes on; short wait, then gas comes on and ignites (you can hear ignition and feel the heat); gas shuts off after 2 or 3 seconds and blower remains on; waits maybe 30 seconds and tries again. After total of 3 attempts, the requires service light comes on and no further...

Pentair Master Temp 400 - difficulty starting after rain

It seems that after any heavy rain the Master Temp 400 tries to fire up and then quickly shuts gas off to burner. The pattern seems to be that after 3 attempts it quits trying and says service necessary. After I manually turn the unit off and then on again it will again try to start 3 times...

What do you do about the salt?

Just to show why the concern about this salt issue I have attached a couple of pictures of plantings around the pool. The first is in the splash area and the second is the non-splash area. They had all looked the same before my grandchildren arrived and................ The kids are coming...

What do you do about the salt?

Tepelus: I hadn't thought about the cover. I doubt I do it because it will likely be a couple of years before the salt level will be an issue again and I'll probably just drain it again. Oslo location, pool in south of France! Sounds like a good plan. Where in France if I may ask...

What do you do about the salt?

Not using borates. Looks like it's what I thought. Thanks Chem Geek. Was going to attach some pictures, but I think it's becoming pointless. TFPC is the best method going.

What do you do about the salt?

Some time last winter I had salt checked and it was I think around 2700. It would be good to monitor more regularly, which I probably will do. I was surprised when the overflow killed the St. Augustine grass which hadn't happened before even when I was fighting high CYA levels 2 years ago...

What do you do about the salt?

I don't know what the salt level is right now as I just drained and refilled with fresh tap water last weekend. Why do you ask?

What do you do about the salt?

Thanks for the quick reply, Chem Geek. You must spend an incredible ammount of time hovering over this website. Your input is GREATLY helpful and appreciated. I agree that the bleach method is DEFINITELY the more agreeable method. The last few years have produced significantly less rainfall...

What do you do about the salt?

I initially selected the non-SWG method because of the damages to furniture and some types of pool coping that salt was know to cause. After one year of trichlor tablets I ran into all of the problems associated with that method. I then drained most of the water and switched to the BBB (now...

    Houston -wheres the bleach

I saw the Aldi price. I just didn't have the nerve to haul out their entire supply. Besides, it takes a LOT of 96 oz. jugs to fill up my 15 gallon carboy. Maybe I can get my wife to pick them up! She has more nerve than I do...especially when $ are involved.

    Houston -wheres the bleach

Thanks. I've been paying $15/case of 4 gallons 10%. And it's a nuisance getting rid of the plastic jugs.

    Using bleach increases salt

Have been on TFP & BBB method for over a year now and it has gone as advertised: Trouble Free. My question has to do with the increase of salt using bleach. The pool calculator says each gallon of 10% bleach in my 29K gallon pool increases salt by 5.7 (ppm?). I am guessing salt doesn't...

    Another happy peristaltic pump injector

NoFear95: I am not sure which tubing you are referring to?? The flow rate of the Stenner pump is based on the size tubing in the pump. I selected the 10 gal/day pump, so the tubing size was automatically selected for me to provide that rate. If you mean the external tubing to connect to the...
