    pool clean after forest fire

Hello All, Í´ve got to clean a pool which was sitting immediately on the edge of an enormous forest fire yesterday. The pool was crystal clear in the morning and now it´s a swamp. Normally when I clear up a dirty pool I add floculante and vacuum when everything´s settled to the bottom...

hot tub heating with heat pump?

thanks for repy jason. i´m no expert on this buy why does a heat pump struggle when the source and destination temperatures get further apart. i thought that the cop was all important and that the cop was greater when the ambient air temp is higher. if the ambient air temp is say 25 degrees C...

hot tub heating with heat pump?

Hi, I have an old hot tub which I´m refurbishing. I´m adding new pumps and a sand filter but need to sort out the heating. I live in a warm climate in Spain and wondered if a heat pump would be suitable as the electricity is so expensive (ie it would be cheaper due to the 4:1 cop). I haven´t...

Thinking about SWG- DIY installable? Best brands/models?

Re: Thinking about SWG- DIY installable? Best brands/models i agree with ping about buying a larger cell. you´ll spend much more money running the pump with a smaller unit.

    pool school swcg question

If I find a calcium problem on a pool surface I usually decrease TA to just below 50ppm to clear the build up of calcium, then increase TA again once it´s disappeared. I´m not disbelieving you people, and I understand that swcg pool chemistry is different, but the 60 figure sounds awfully...

    pool school swcg question

OK think I understand. I don´t have a particular problem with pH rise, although as you said it always rises with a swcg. However, if I was to lower the TA to 80 it would slow down the process of increasing pH and presumably lessen the quantity of acid I use? Many thanks for your replies...

    Solar Pool Covers

There´s an Australian company, Daisy Pool Covers, who export cheap solar pool covers. An agent for them started selling them here in Spain a few years ago saying that they´d last for many years. I thought they looked flimsy so decided not to try them. However, they are becoming very common...

    pool school swcg question

Thanks for the reply. I checked a salt water pool today and the readings were 95 TA and 7.5pH. Normally I wouldn´t add acid yet, but would the experts on here be lowering the TA with those readings?

    pool school swcg question

Hello All, I just read the guidelines on poolschool for swcgs and was interested to see the recommended TA figures at 60 to 80ppm. This appears to be a little lower than normally recommended for non-swcg pools. Can somebody please explain the reason for this? I have experience looking after a...
