    D.E. or dead algae

I'd also add that My property is loaded with maple trees, and I have a row of huge Cedar trees right next to my pool. I didn't lay out this arrangement. It was like that when I bought the property, lol.

    D.E. or dead algae

I live in the Northeast Corner of PA, and I have no issues with a sand filter. They are Cheap, Easy, and it's been my experience for 10 plus years now that sand filters keep pools exceptionally clean. Just my two cents. Edit to add: Make it so you don't get algae, and you don't have to filter...

    shelf life of reagents

So, if I read correctly, for kits like the TF-Pro, I'm supposed to replace all the reagents at the start of next season? I have several reagents that have more than half the bottle left.

Order of Precedence for PH and TA

So, if my PH is a little high, and my TA is a little low, do I lower my PH first with MA, then raise my TA with baking soda, (as I would suspect, expecting to have to re-adjust PH if necessary), or do I tackle the TA first, then lower the PH?

    Need some advice...

Here's the specific skimmer basket I ordered, which has the same size and screw pattern as a standard Hayward basket, at a much better price point. Edit: Oops! I confused this thread with another user who had specific intex questions. I won't delete the above couple of posts, incase someone who...

    Need some advice...

Last year, when I put the skimmer box on, I had the pool filled to just below where the bottom of the square flange would be. This year when I cut the return holes. I drained to just below the holes I wanted to cut. I tried a razor knife, but it slipped a couple times, and I was afraid I was...

    Need some advice...

I used the original suction ports as returns after installing my skimmer. I used the gasket as a template by tracing the inside of the gasket with a marker centered on the reinforced portion of the liner and simply cutting out the old ports with a thin serrated blade. You don't have to use both...

    Need some advice...

I added a skimmer to my intex pool. I used the face plate to mark screw holes, then drilled the screw holes through the liner, then screwed the skimmer box on, then cut the square out with a razor knife after the skimmer was screwed together. I used the two original intakes as returns as you...

Backwash Even If Pressure Isn’t Rising?

I also backwash just for the heck of it when rain makes me have to drain water out of the pool. I figure, better to use the extra water to backwash that to just pump it to waste.

Backwash Even If Pressure Isn’t Rising?

My pressure gauge doesn't really go up either. For some reason, this year, There's really no "dirt" in the pool. When I do backwash after like 2 weeks just for $#!+$ and giggles, the sight glass barely gets milky, when on previous years, it'd get a solid beige color. Probably not a coincidence...

Purchasing our very first pool (with a house)

Never use clarifier, "Stain Out" or "Stain Magneet" again. The only things you need for your pool are Chlorine, Cyanuric Acid (Stabilizer), Baking Soda, and Muriatic Acid. That's it! Keep posting away with test results, and pics of the pool/water. Plenty of people here will help get you on the...
