Getting the numbers right, the right way

Well, looks like we may a nice, early swim season here in Memphis. I kept the pool open all winter, and made sure my numbers didn't go too far off the reservation, but mainly only maintained a good Free Chlorine level. Did worry a bit when I watched the pool freeze during our bitter cold week...

    Doheny's Discovery, S200, Active20, Triton owners club

So I pulled the trigger and got a Pentair Warrior SE from Marina. getting a $50 rebate, and I sold my old Polaris pressure cleaner (with hose, extra bags, and tail sponges) for $50, so my out of pocket is only $600. Love the results! For storage I have a 24”x24”x24” deck box. I put a couple of...

Robotic cleaner for IG with steps, benches & Spa

Just pulled the trigger on my robot. Margaret at Marina Pools said the Dolphin S200 has gone up to $719, so she steered me to the Pentair Warrior SE, same thing, for $699. Be here (and in the pool) Monday!

    Robot Only?

Just pulled the trigger. Margaret is great and due to the price rising to $719 for the Dolphin recommended the identical (except color) Pentair Warrior SE for $699. Should have it Monday, and it will go straight in the pool to try it out! No remote, no caddy. Shouldn't miss either of those.

    Robot Only?

Nah. I’m retired, and Mom retires next month, so the days of throwing money around for a slightly sexier gadget are over. I’m just looking to get the pool a bit cleaner without having to drag out the nets and brushes and vacuum hoses just because the Polaris doesn’t want to get that one corner...

    Robot Only?

I see the s200 doesn't have a caddy. I that something that might be regretted later?

    Robot Only?

My Polaris also does a crappy job, and the booster pump that runs it sounds like it’s about to throw a bearing. Rather than pay to repair or replace it, I think it’s time for a robot. Would an S200 be good for a 17 x 44 x 24 Grecian El vinyl pool, about 8-9 foot at the deep end? And is this the...

    Pool Math........The App

Minor request, may have been addressed before. I just added Borates to my pool, and while the app was incredibly useful (as always) the recommended quantities of Borax came out as 1072 o or 67 lbs or 14.1 (76 oz) boxes. I don't know if this is regional, or a recent change, but every place I went...

    Pool Math........The App

Thank you for letting me beta test this. I just moved to a new house with the first pool I've ever owned, and everything was out of whack. Had to drain half the water, and now I'm slamming it. The app is so much help to me. So handy to have it and my numbers in Walmart, and get to adjust...

New (to me) house with my first pool

Drop of 1.5ppm, from 26 to 24.5 overnight. Not too bad. I see brushing and testing in my day.

New (to me) house with my first pool

If the OCLT test in the morning indicates a drop of over 1.0 ppm, but FC is still over SLAM levels, I don't add chlorine but just brush and monitor, right?

New (to me) house with my first pool

Well, that's interesting. By PoolMath I should have been able to raise FC from 2 to 24 with 8.1 jugs (121 oz) of 8.25% bleach. I dumped 8 jugs in, brushed the sides, and tested about 90 minutes or so later. Came up with a FC of 27.5! Playing with the calculator it looks like the pool is actually...

New (to me) house with my first pool

I don't think it's too much of a problem. Only been here a couple of weeks. There are two drains in the hardscape between them and the pool. I'll keep an eye on it.

You're right. Did it again. Forgot the multiplier. TA=90

New (to me) house with my first pool

Just moved into a new-to-us house (circa '95 construction), with the first pool we have ever owned. Knowing nothing about pools, I started reading TFP before moving in, got my test kit ordered, and was ready (kind of) for a new experience. I had to get a pool guy out here to show me what all the...
