Will do, thanks for the gut check on the numbers.

    First Chemistry Test Results

I did a CH test of the fill water and it was about 350, so not exactly soft. I didn't think to do a TA test, I'll do that next time I bust out my "chemistry set".

Did a partial re-test to see what the effects were after 24 hours. pH = 7.5 FC = 11 ppm CC = 0 ppm TA = 150-160 CYA = 80-90 still... maybe closer to 80 this time? pH was 7.2 a few hours after acid addition and has crept up to 7.5, which makes sense with the TA coming down I think. I'm a little...

Good advice, thanks! 128 oz of 14.5% muriatic acid just went in the pool with the pump running, I'll take a pH reading tonight. I imagine it disperses pretty quickly, but some sources online said to give it a few hours to stabilize before re-testing, so I'll do that. That amount was recommended...

SWG would be great, it's on the list, along with updating to a variable speed pump, but unfortunately our furnace started leaking carbon monoxide and will need to be replaced, so major equipment updates for the pool have been postponed. I'll go liquid chlorine and muriatic acid hunting tomorrow...

No water softener, but I think it is on the list of home improvements for other reasons as well. I'll keep that it mind when it comes time to begin refilling in earnest (have been topping off 1/2" a week or so).

    First Chemistry Test Results

Good afternoon! For background, I recently purchased a house with an existing in-ground pool. In my last post a couple weeks ago, you guys helped me understand and operate all the pool equipment. My TF-100 test kit just came in and I ran through the battery of tests. Here are the results: No...

    Pool Equipment Operation Help

It looks like I have something very similar, although mine appears to use more homemade PVC. There are no obvious markings on the handle about what position it should be in, but the manual you attached should help with that! I'll probably save tackling a backwash until this weekend as the filter...

    Pool Equipment Operation Help

I've attached a picture that hopefully shows the plumbing more clearly. There is a "manifold" of sorts connected to the filter. The top of the pump connects to the lower side of the manifold. The pipe attached to the upper side of the manifold disappears into the ground (visible in first...

    Pool Equipment Operation Help

The "in water" cell is nowhere to be seen. Additionally, there are two wires that were running from the Kreepy Klear control box a port in one of the PVC pipes, but those wires have been cut. I think it's safe to assume that it has been decommissioned and I won't be using it. I'll take it out at...

    Pool Equipment Operation Help

Appreciate the thorough information from everyone, more than I could have asked for! I am a little surprised at the lack of protection myself, but that's the state of things. The backyard is fully enclosed with high gate latches and all doors with backyard access do trigger audible...

    Pool Equipment Operation Help

Good evening, I just purchased a house that included an in-ground pool... I wasn't necessarily searching one out, but I'm glad to have it! The pool seems to be in relatively good shape, the water is very clear and the pump and filter seem to be operating normally, but the previous owner...
