    Why is this happening?

Guess the gallon I added yesterday didn’t put a dent in it Ok off to slam!

    Why is this happening?

Yes I think the FC dropped pretty low. I increased the % that the SWG produces. Do you think I need to test CC or just start SLAM?

    Why is this happening?

I’ve been balancing the chemicals in our saltwater pool since it was built, 3+ years now. Thanks to TFP, I felt like I could handle this on my own and have been successful so far. Now I need your help. Our pool is green and cloudy. I upped the salt % to 20% which for this time of year is usually...

Problems with salt level and FC

Ok, I just added a jug of bleach and a 40 lb bag of salt. I read somewhere online that you should turn off the salt cell while it is dissolving. Is that really necessary? And if so, how do I turn it off?

Problems with salt level and FC

Thank for the input! Pat, the CYA was actually 0 a month ago. I worked hard to get it up to 80! I agree I don't want it to go much higher. Should I use just regular Clorox? Jason we just built the pool, finished in January. Could there be a chance of buildup already? Chuckie good to know...

Problems with salt level and FC

I've been using the TFP Taylor test kit since we've had our pool, about 5 months. I think I've managed the levels fairly well but now I need some guidance. We had a huge pool party 4 days ago then a torrential rainstorm last night and my FC is down to 1. I increased the salt percentage to 55%...

Why are TFP's recommended levels so different than my equipment manufacturer's?

Most concerning is FC. TFP recommends 4-6, Hayward 1-3. Pretty big difference. CYA 70-80, Hayward 30-50 TA 60-80, Hayward 80-120 pH 7.5-7.6, Hayward 7.2-7.6 not that much different but Hayward has a wider range. I've been trying maintain my pool with TFP's recommendations but I can't figure...

Numbers too high - how do I fix?

That's what I was thinking too. I've got cyanuric acid coming from Amazon and as soon as that gets here, I'll put it in the pool. Thanks for your help!

Numbers too high - how do I fix?

Well this is very curious. After draining the pool for hours, I tested the salt levels yesterday and they are exactly the same! How can that be? I guess it didn't drain that much after all. :-/ At 3780 ppm, it's slightly above recommended levels (3400 is upper limits). I'm tempted just to...

Numbers too high - how do I fix?

Northrn that video was so helpful, thanks for posting the link! Kiss4afrog what do you think about this reference? http://www.troublefreepool.com/content/134-recommended-levels Maybe I'm reading into it too much and it doesn't matter that much. My water looks great, no signs of algae and...

Numbers too high - how do I fix?

I've got the pool draining now to adjust salt levels. Numbers today FC 6.5 higher today but I believd because my husband ran the pump overnight Sat night. CC 0.5 TA 90 Ca hardness 400 - is this high because my pool is new? CYA <20 - does the water get cloudier as you fill the tube up? Is...

Numbers too high - how do I fix?

Thanks guys, really appreciate it. I feel like I am learning a whole new language here and it's a steep learning curve, so I really appreciate your patience and explanations. I need to go back and reread pool chem again; it makes more sense each time I do. Tomorrow I will try to test CYA again...

Numbers too high - how do I fix?

Ok I ran the more precise chlorine test just now and FC is 4, CC is 0.5. PH is a little higher today at 7.8, salt is still high at 3780. What, if anything, should I do? If my salt cell is converting the salt to chlorine, should I turn the percentage down? It's at 50% now. If I do, won't they...

Numbers too high - how do I fix?

I used the TFP Taylor test kit. The Br is next to the Cl. Guess it doesn't mean anything with a salt pool? I did the CYA test yesterday but couldn't get a reading. This is the one that takes a few times to "get it", right? I was able to see the black dot with water all the way up the tube so I...
