I am looking for some pool house ideas, especially roof design. The pool house will have a poured foundation basement, will be 20' deep x 24' wide. I will be using a metal roof and have not decided whether to use trusses or stick built on the roof.

Anyone have pictures to share or links to sources with pictures/plans? Has anyone built their own decorative trusses or used the Simpson decorative metal straps/hangers?

Thanks,

Check out all the pics on Pinterest.
I have seen the site but because I didn't log in, I could only see previews of things. From my recollection, lots of diy things, etc. I will officially log in and see what they have.
hare some pictures of your house and pool area so we can see what style you already have. Maddie shareds some goods ones with her screen shot!
Is Maddie a user here or what? I will post a sketch of the layout along with some pictures of our house/pool area. The house has a 14/12 pitch (very steep) and although I like it, I would like to reduce the pitch on the pool house. Will post later on today.

The pool house will have a green metal roof to match the house. The roof ridge will face the pool, open on the front. Attached is a sketch of the basic floor plan and pictures of the house/pool from different sides. One picture shows where a drive will be to access a garage door in the basement of the pool house.

LOVE your house and lot but you are going to hate those trees after a while with the pool LOL

So for this pool house.............do you want it all the way open on all side? Do you want a bathroom in it? Do you want a bar? How about a wall on the side away from the pool to put a fire place and mount a TV on?

When will they be doing the retaining wall to help hold all that dirt up? I would be SO worried about a big rain washing it out.

Our house sits in the middle of 10 acres, mostly heavily wooded except the pasture in the back. We have taken down lots of trees and probably many more need to go. I would love not to have a cover but it may be a necessity.

They showed up this morning to get the footings in place for the walls. But we are only into week 33 or so into our 12 week build :) I do like the concrete contractor and I think they will now get that taken care of. As for rain, we had a torrential rain that lasted a week after they dug out and formed for the walls. So, I will be glad when they get things stabilized. He says they may try to pour the footings tomorrow. Will see.

The pool house will face south towards the pool. Plans for now are open front, closed back with a bathroom and storage, and the right facing wall will be closed in for TV, maybe a fireplace, and to hide the pump equip on that side. Some sort of kitchen bar with sink, 2 burner stove, refrig. No access to the basement from the main level but the basement will have some windows, a garage door and a walk in door.

Floorplan attached is an idea of what we may do. Probably reverse the floorplan with lanai on right facing side, make bathroom smaller (just a toilet, sink and changing bench), Possibly add counter space for kitchen area in between the bathroom and storage, enclose the right hand side, and the footprint will be a little larger at 20d x 24w.

You are going to LOVE having all of those shelves and storage! I like you whole plan!

I am glad to hear they are working on the dirt walls. Your heart had to be thumping when it started raining that hard. Know you were glad to see things still holding after it was done!

I could live with (in) that pool house.

Here's my really rough roof design thought. A salt box style roof. Reason being that with the pool house facing the house and south, having more visibility into the space would be nice and keep it brighter. It will give you a bit of sun intrusion on the summer solstice, and more before and after that. Initially this may not be considered such a positive, but with you having so much woods, the extra sunshine may not be a bad thing. My sun angle is probably just bit too shallow for 6/21. It would be a bit more upright on that date.

Thanks for the idea. I think during the peak in the summer, we will get sun from around 10:30 until 4:30 when the shade from the roof starts at the tanning ledge moving towards the deep end. Then late in the day it begins to filter back as it moves behind the house. Whatever I end up doing may be using trusses to speed up the process of getting the roof done.

One thing to note about trusses is that although they speed up the onsite portion of the build, another user who is building a house is seeing delays in being able to obtain trusses. That's just one data point for sure, but these days anything can be in short supply, so checking lead times of all components becomes even more important. He did mention that lumber has dropped from it's highs so that's good.

Some of the prices are unbelievable. I saw 1-1/2 pvc conduit and it was $18 for one ten foot stick. A year ago it was less than $4. I have not figured any framing materials, just trying to get through this build first but I think it may get completed soon if they continue like they have.

If I did use trusses, I would probably use a scissor truss and at the very front one facing the pool, do a custom one with some design character.

I just saw this at my local HD last night. $19.28. Crazy.
I paid about that for 10' sticks of 1-1/4" PVC conduit last weekend. Almost walked away but I didn't want to put that project off any longer. Last time I looked for it they were completely out.
