1st year with the pool, and I think I have it down pretty well - pool stays clean, vaccumed every few days with a robot, using skimmer socks to catch debris in skimmers that I change almost every day (I know, overkill..), and the DE filter pressure has been consistently 15psi, where it was when I opened the pool in April.

Question for the group - if the pressure is not rising at all because I am assuming I am doing a decent job keeping everything clean, do I need to backwash/rinse and recharge it? What are the key things that would require me to backwash/rinse/recharge the DE filter?

20k Gal SWG, Hayward DE 4820 for filter, pump is on 12h a day, everything balanced as it should be.

Welcome! So filter pressure (increase) and/or lack of water flow at your return jets would be the most obvious symptoms. If your pressure gauge is operating properly, water well maintained, and your DE filter sized large enough to accommodate the pool, it's conceivable you may not have to backwash very often. Sounds like a good thing. :goodjob:
