I haven't seen a post about this yet. Anyone have an older vinyl inground pool that has been fully or partially restored. Costs, Who to contact, pros, cons , what to expect?
I am vacillating between filling in the pool next year or getting it a facelift. The concrete slabs have dropped/cracked due to groundhog activity. The fence and retaining wood wall portion are heaving and I really hate the sand bottom under the vinyl.

I had a company come out and give me a price on raising and leveling the concrete surround. But thats not really going to fix the bigger issue, so I held off on that decision.

You should have a vermiculite bottom, that would stop the sand thing going on... they can easily do that when the liner is removed..

DO you have any pictures of the deck? :)

Here are some pics of the decking. 75% is either sloping or cracked. The worst is along the "retaining" wood structure that runs lengthwise along the treeline. Although the stair entryway is also really bad.

You can resize using a free program called Irfanview or you can do the quick and easy way using paint. Top left of the screen in paint shows -resize- If I am in a hurry and encounter too large of a file, I reduce it by 50% and it always works

A few ways are listed here, from the website itself and from iPhones. :)

I can post some tomorrow.
I called a pool refurbishing company, and they are sending someone out on Friday to give me some idea/costs. I can ask about doing vermiculite under the liner. I feel the whole decking needs to be removed and repoured, and something done with the partial retaining wall, since the pool looks like it was built on a man made berm in the front, I've got flat land all around me except the pool area. Had they moved back 6' when building it, the decking might have lasted longer, although 46 years us a pretty good run.

Thanks guys, found a resizing app for the android. Anyway the photos show the worst parts of the decking, but in reality its all sloping/tilting down away from the pool edge to one degree or another.
