Well, first things first. I'm diggin the Anti-Collision lights. :p

Two bots playing nice together in the pool at night
How did you get your power cord to not float on the top of the water.. Need to figure out the same thing for Rodney the robot :)

If you're like me and don't want to be dragging bots in and out of the water or manually turning things on and off, that is the question right?
For sure, the floating control/LV power cable will certainly get in the way of Ariel.

I believe that I have found a suitable solution. I'm planning on posting a separate thread regarding that solution today. Stay tuned. I will post a link to the thread here.
Thanks!!

Further observations regarding Ariel.

1. She ran out of juice about 10:00pm last night. I'm guessing that because she did not have a full day's sun yesterday to recharge the bats, that was the reason for the early bat discharge.
2. I noticed that this morning, she did not start up again until the sun had been up for a couple of hours. I assume she needed some time to recharge before getting going for the day.
3. A few hours later, I wanted to check the filter grid to see the results. I had to wait several minutes for her to finally start heading to the side. I went over to the side where it looked like she would land at and she all of a sudden turned around and headed the opposite direction. Rats.. The point is this. Eventually, she will make it to the side so you can power her down and pull her out of the water to clean the filter grid. However, if you don't want to wait for her or don't want to keep walking around the pool, trying to play tag with her, then just get your brush or net pole and guide her to the edge of the pool. Here are the results after approximately 12 hours of operation.

Not bad. She is definitely doing her job so far and I have to admit that without any manual skimming in the last 24 hours, my pool surface has not looked better. Especially with a couple of nearby California Palm pods starting to open up and dropping their stuff.
A quick rinse off at the hose bib, I inserted the grid, pushed the power button and she was off and skimming once again.

Can’t you just waive a treat or biscuit at her to get her to come to the side? Maybe try whistling …
I tried that Matt, but obviously she does not arrive out of the box, already trained. :p

AND of course, you can sit on the patio and watch her hang around the side's all day. But the minute you want to clean the grid, then she decides she wants to be in the blue water Navy and stay in the middle.

So, this is my "MacGyver" solution to keeping the Maytronics Control/Low Voltage cable below the surface to deconfict it from Ariel.

So far, so good. 🤞

UPDATE: 6/6/21
Here is a quick update on how long the battery charge seems to last.
Yesterday, Ariel had a full day's charge from the sun. Checking the footage on one of my backyard cam's, it appears that she ran out of juice about midnight.
Then, she didn't come back to life until about 7:00am this morning.
I checked the filter tray this morning. Yup, she definitely picked up a lot of stuff off the surface in the 24 hour period since I last cleaned the filter tray. (y)

This time of year my pool is pretty much full sun all day. many times my nx2 would still be running in the morning at day break so effectively ran 24/7, but the Ariel is dead in the water every morning so my best guess is they downsized the battery capacity on the new one. this morning the front paddle wheel was not moving and the unit was making somewhat loud not normal noise, but it was just a piece of debris that had lodged into it that was preventing the movement and causing the noise. otherwise, she's doing a great job avoiding the rockscape that the nx2 would get hung up on.

That would be disappointing if the shrunk the battery. My NX2 is operating 24/7 also this time of year with plenty of battery to spare in the mornings. I would expect at least the same from the Ariel.

I think it’s safe to say that, at this point, your chances of getting one before the end of the summer season are slim. If they are at a 60 day delay for pre-orders that happened months ago, any new order is not going to happen this swim season. Best to wait until next year as what you’ll be getting now are device builds that are being rushed to meet previous obligations. That is going to impact quality for sure.
