Pump problem I can't figure out, but I don't know very much. Pump is almost 3 yrs old. It seems to get weak the longer it's running. Doesn't matter at what speed I run it. If it's set to run at 3450 RPM, after a few hours it feels more like it used to at 2700 RPM coming out of the returns. 2450 feels more like 1700, 1500 feels like it isn't even on. The flow eventually becomes low enough that my SWG shuts off even when it's set to 2450 RPM because it can't detect enough flow. The pump still sounds like it's operating at the set speed however, not a lower speed. Nothing is clogged, filter presser remains steady. Do these pumps only last less than 3 years? Is this a common problem? Is there a fix for it? What can I check? Thanks for any advice.

Your filter is clogged. That's why flow decreases over time. You need to take the proper steps to clean whatever type of filter you have.

If your pressure gauge always says the same thing it's probably broken.

I wish it were that easy. I just did a full disassembly and cleaning. It is 100% not clogged. Also about the pressure gauge, I meant to say that it doesn't rise as the flow goes down. It registers higher when running at higher speeds, lower at lower speeds, etc. In other words, it has been functioning normally. I would expect if the filter was clogged, the pressure would shoot up.

And by "I just did a full disassembly and cleaning", I mean I vacuumed the pool, took apart the entire filter, it looks pristine, and then a couple hours later I had the flow issue. Any other thoughts?
thanks much.

It is possible to plug a filter that fast. DE is very good at catching algae and it will plug it up very quickly.

What does your test kit say about the water?

Forgot to say, I will do the tests, but in the past when the filter gets clogged, the pressure shoots up, and the noise is different, a higher, straining whine. Neither of those things are happening. Noise is staying low.
