15' foot vinyl pool. (3955 gallons, non salt water) Still using Intex filter kit that came with it (I know, I should get a better sand filter, can't find any that are not crazy expensive right now)
Just set up and tested (water crystal clear right now) Using Taylor k2006 test kit
  • CH: 400 ppm (my water here is very hard)
  • pH: 8.0 (at least, matches highest color on Taylor test kit)
  • TA: 300
  • FC: 0
  • CYA: 0
Best way to stabilize? I'm guessing to correct pH first with Muriatic Acid and then?? (Was going to use bleach for chlorine but my CYA is 0....)
Thanks for any tips!

Add:

- 30ppm of stabilizer in a sock in front of the return.
- 5ppm of chlorine via bleach
- muriatic acid (greater than 30 minutes after chlorine) to lower pH to 7.2 or so (it's going to rise quickly with TA that high)

Use PoolMath to figure out how much to add for each of these.

Rain won't add TA. It can change the pH through either aeration or adding acidic elements depending on the rainfall but it won't increase TA.
