Hello All,

Looking to get another Heat pump for our new build coming up. I had a Gulfstream heat pump on my last pool and it worked good. I installed that heat pump myself so I have no problem doing it again. The new pool builder will install a Pentair UltraTemp 140 to go with the rest of my Pentair equipment for $4900 installed with a 3 year warranty. OR I can buy the AquaCal SQ225 which is suppose to be even more efficient and it's a 143,000 btu heater (3k btu more) not a big deal, but I can get that for $4300 shipped with taxes. I did ask the builder if I bought my own how much would he charge to install it and I should hear back tomorrow on how much that will be.

Does ANYONE have experience with any of these models or even brands of heat pumps ?

Thank you!

You need to find out who services the UltraTemp or Aquacal in your area. We hear stories of difficulty getting HPs repaired. Pool builders will install them but can’t service them. Many AC companies will not touch pool equipment. Find out who will repair it before you buy.

Would you be willing to share the vendor from whom you got the $4300 quote for the SQ225?

Thanks for sharing. He did not have the SQ225 in stock either and had a wait time of 6 weeks. I ended up ordering one on Saltpoolguys.com for $4500, the best they could do for a unit in stock their warehouse.
