Hello everyone. Like many here, bought a home with an above ground pool 18ft round with surrounding deck.
Cover tore during the winter, so to get a jump on things i pulled the cover back to clean the leaves. I made all the connections for filter and pump. Topped off the water and ran the pump for about an hour. There was a plastic black jar kind of floating in the pool with a few small holes punched in it under the cover that I'm assuming had chlorine tabs in it for the winter.
Turned off the pump and put the cover back on.
Plan is to fully open this weekend if the weather cooperates.
Just picked up 6 gallons of chlorine (HDX from home depot, date late Jan 2021) and 5 lb bag of stabilizer.

These are the numbers I had when testing.
FC - 0.2
PH - 7.2
TA - 70
CH - 110
CYA - 30
CSI - (-1.19)
TEMP - 50

Since its vinyl above ground I don't worry about CH or CSI, correct?
Will recheck CYA with room temp water. (I did not realize temp was factor in this test).
Pool is clear so need to slam.
Will bring up FC to around 5 or 6 to start.
Bring CYA up to 60? Is that ok? (After recheck with room temp. sample)
After that is done. Recheck PH and TA. Currently TA looks good, PH on the low side, get that up to 7.5-7.6?

Also once everything is leveled off, how much clorine should I expect to go thru weekly?
Thanks to the group for all I have learned, and continue to learn.

Correct.

No need to SLAM if pool is clear. Do a Overnight Chlorine Loss Test if you are unsure.

Follow the FC/CYA Levels for your CYA level.

Bring CYA to 30 and do a Overnight Chlorine Loss Test

Much easier to SLAM Process at CYa 30 then 60.

Recommended Levels

TA is fine.

pH of 7.2 is fine. I would let it rise naturally.

How many gallons in your pool?

You using PoolMath?

Figure 2-3 ppm of chlorine per day.
