Not sure what I should be doing. Pool Finished filling back up (we had drained it over the weekend) around 6pm. I ran the robot bc we had some winds and have had the pump on since about 6:30 (it’s almost 8pm). My testing kit was supposed to arrive today, but unfortunately it’s delayed until Friday. The water is a little cloudy but I don’t know anything else (aside from the fact we have really hard water in Vegas and our pH is high). Anything I can/should be doing over the next 48 hours until my test kit arrives? Should I take a sample to “the place that shall not be named” tomorrow?

Add 3 ppm FC worth of liquid chlorine each day. As this is a new fill, start dissolving 30 ppm worth of CYA using the sock method.
On Friday, run a full set of tests (excluding CYA) and post them here.

Pour 1 gallon of 10% liquid chlorine into the pool every day until you get your test kit

Also, as we know your fill water TA is 130 ppm and a pH of over 8, you can add enough acid to lower the pH to 7.4 from 8 assuming a TA of 130 ppm. You can do that tomorrow.

How do I know how much acid to add to bring the pH to an appropriate level?
Use Poolmath. From the app, I get 72 oz of 31.45% muriatic acid to your 32000 gallon pool with a TA of 130 ppm and pH of 8 to lower the pH to 7.4. Instead of measuring, just pour half of the gallon container in the pool at the return jet with the pump running.

You can add the liquid chlorine before or after the acid. Just wait 15 minutes or so between them. Pump running.

Return is where the water 'returns' to the pool from the pump. You should have at least two or maybe more.

Suction is where the water is 'sucked' to the pump. That is primarily your skimmer(s) and the main drain.

In case you might like to see some little videos we put together -- here is the link.

So, back where my pool equipment is, I have a “clean out” that opens in the pump unit that I can open to get debris out. I’m not sure I know of another part back by the equipment that I can open. I‘ll have to do some investigating tomorrow when it’s light out.

Sorry, one other question...in pool math, if I put my current CYA at 0 and target at 30, it says I need over 8lbs. Does that sound like it could be correct?? If so, do I put a couple pounds at a time in the sock inside the skimmer basket??

Also, am I supposed to put the granules in an actual tube sock or a nylon stocking? Do I need to tie the stocking off at the top and let it sink to the bottom of the skimmer basket?

Okay, here are some photos of my equipment. It’s a tight space back there, so the angles are weird. D7F9B10B-E893-4A80-B34F-571E79DA6564.jpeg

Looks good. What automation system do you have? You have actuated valves, so something is used to tell them when to move to spa.

What questions do you have?
