Ever wonder what biofilm looks like?

I also noticed that this control has the pre-2009 temp override, and will heat to 108* (ut-4).

That's a selling point to the right buyer. It truly amazes me that people could want it that high, I keep mine at 102*. 😁
My 2 yr old tub will allow me to set it to 106 if i hold down the + temp long enough. Not sure if it’s supposed to - in the coldest part of winter we sometimes set it that high since its a 110v & the temp will drop quickly with the jets running. Its a lifesmart.

The fixtures look brand new, white & clean. Would not have expected that on a used tub. Did you replace them?
Nope, all original light gray. If I had replaced any they would be obviously darker.

Wow. I was under the impression that a tub that can heat above 104* couldn't get a UL rating since 2009. Not familiar with that brand.

Thats what I thought too. Apparently its an override hack type thing. It just a 110 rotomolded plug & play. After 106 it displays over heating. This happens on occasion if it’s really warm & sunny that day which will heat up the tub & I forget to turn it down. I try to avoid it by lowering the temp setting as the weather warms up.

Well, that depends. I'll ask $3500 to start, but I'm not going to sit on it long, so the price will drop weekly if it doesn't sell quick. If it sits too long I know a used spa dealer in StL who will buy, in which case I'll have to come down quite a bit and he will mark it up and put it in his showroom. I'll keep it if I can't get at least $1800.
I have around $600 and 60 highly unpleasant hours in it. If I had known how extensive the damage was and that I would have to replace the pump as well I would not have taken the spa. I am seriously over invested in this tub, and as such have to ask more than I otherwise would for an 18 year old spa.
It's a good looking tub, with a number of new or "newer" parts, nice cabinet, decent cover, and a cover lift. However, current times are throwing some variables in there. With long wait times on new tubs the used market is booming, but everyone is tight on cash right now, so negotiations are tough.
I'll let you know how it goes.

Well, for those of you waiting for a video link, I am sorry. I have tried a couple of video editor apps and have had no luck but plenty of frustration. I am throwing in the towel on the video. Guess I won't be a movie star after all.

you tube?
Well, the trouble is that my phone broke my 1.5 hours or so of video into 4 parts and I can't seem to put them back together to then edit out some of the most boring stuff (it's all boring). I also can't figure out how to edit out pieces in the middle, it seems to only let me cut off from the start or end, but not out of the middle. I have never used a video editor, and am at the end of my patience with the ones I have tried. Perhaps it is because they were free trials, I don't know. But I am throwing in the towel. You aren't missing out on much, I assure you. ;)

I’ve tried a few video editing apps, and have had much frustration with them as well. I’ve finally found a free one that works okay, but it’s got quirks and a steep learning curve.

YouTube used to have a web based simple editor that worked okay for things like stitching and simple trimming, but they removed it.

@RDspaguy - just watched your video!
Congrats on the culmination of all your hard work!
I Have a couple questions...
Did u bring the tub up to temp & have it @ shock level during the purge?
Also I wonder if you could have still used a dab more Ahhsome to compensate for your hard water? As I usually get copious amounts of foam with minimum dosing for my volume & low ch water.
Also a tip for future purges- i use a fine mesh skim net to scoop the funk filled foam - it works pretty well as u aren’t “chasing” the funky bits & don’t have to touch them 🤢
Still need to wipe the sides as well but I find I don’t use so many paper towels.
Then when i have scooped most all the foam & it dissipates I then add another 1/2 dose & purge again. Sometimes the 1st purge comes out pretty clean but that second one - wowza! Here’s an example of one experience 👇

The tub was hot and I had added about a half-cup of liquid (10%) I did not test or aim for any particular fc.

I discussed this with @Ahhsomeguy after my initial dose did not produce much foam. It turns out I used a trial size made for a bathtub, not a spa. That video is actually the second addition of Ahhsome. I have video of the first too, but with my video issues I have not tried to load them. I did not want to overdo it, as I wanted an accurate test of the product at recommended dosages. From everything I have read about multiple treatments I expected to find biofilm still in the pipes, but they looked great to me after one treatment using manufacturers recommended amounts. I may try it again before I drain it just to see what comes out.

I too have and older Solana RX tub that has the UT 1-4 settings. I find that the 101 degree setting results in a water temp that is in reality not 101 so my ideal setting is UT 1 or 2.
