So our pool equipment will be on the side of our house with our pool built directly in our backyard. Our pb will pour a concrete pad for the equipment but I was thinking when we pour the concrete for the decking have them continue pourOmg some on the side of the house near the pool equipment so I can store pool floats and what not over there as well. Concrete decking will go right up to our house so it would just wrap onto the side of the house. But looking at pics of people’s pool equipment, it seems like it’s usually just grass or gravel around their equipment. I know it would be easier to get to pipes if there was a leak but wouldn’t you have to break concrete anyways since there will be pipes under the concrete decking part. as well? Our dig starts on Monday and just want to think this through. Oh and one of our fence gates will be right there so thought we should concrete it but Im starting to wonder if there is a good reason people don’t. Thanks!

What you are thinking is exactly what I did.. But I added a trench around my equipment pad about a foot wide and 18" deep full of gravel/rock. This gives a place for the water to go when I clean my filter, open the pump lid, or check on the SWCG.
Then I built a little lean-to shed that covers the equipment and gives me a place for pool stuff and lawn equipment.
Here is the pad before I dug it out and added the gravel.
I would never bring pipes up through concrete. One day you will have to fix something, or move move something, and you will be glad you have the access.

Our pool deck is big and comes to our house also..One thing I learned is make sure they slope it some away from the house..We had to have a section replaced against the house and the guy changed it..He sloped it to make a natural low area to let the water flow away from our house and down the driveway
The original one had a 2" gutter that was probably 30' but it was always stopping up and couldn't handle any type of heavy rain so would stand against the house and leak into the basement
