Liner installation underway - should I worry?

Left the house as day 1 of liner installation wrapped up. Returned to find huge wrinkles at the main drains located at the deep end. Can't reach the construction manager now.

They'll be back in the morning but should I continue filling the pool in the meantime?

You may want to stop filling it in case they need to jump in there to move the liner around. Once you get so much water in there, it will be near impossible to get the liner to move due to the weight of the water.

Thanks I did a few hours ago. Seems like the liner is floating. Something tells me I'm in for a fight...

Maybe its nothing and once enough water is added, it will stretch out the wrinkles but I think I would have also stopped the filling until the contractor can take a look tomorrow.

I waded into the deep end tonight and felt around the perimeter with my feet. Huge gap between the liner and the pool walls where the floor meets the wall.

That's probably a good thing. It implies that once the water stretches the liner against the walls, your wrinkles should go away.

I had the same thought. I'm just fearful of how involved the process will become to remove what I'm worried is water from between the liner and the walls. Thanks for the positive vibes!

Is there no vacuum on this pool while the liner was fitted? The liner should fit like a glove then water added. What do the stairs look like amd rest of pool

Two vacuums in fact.

There is only about of 3 feet of water in the deep end. Basically, where there is water, the liner has separated from the walls. Where there isn't water, it's fitting tight.

This is what the liner looked like before adding water. Seemed to be fitting rather tight. Began lifting from the edges once the filling began.

It should stay exactly like that while it is being filled. I agree that you did the right thing by shutting off the water supply. The PB will have some explaining and work to do in the morning. If they made an error make sure they compensate you for the wasted water.

They're telling me that they noticed some water seeping in through the vermiculite prior to installing the liner and that's why this is happening. It did look like it was weeping, but nothing substantial.

If you have water coming in during install you cant install like that. You have to work fast amd have water trucked in to get a substantial amount in quickly. Those wrinkles are actually water under the liner and its floating. Not a good thing at this point and not easy to correct once drains are cut in....... Those workers would be fired nobody is allowed to have shoes on in my pools and no drills either. They can fall over easily and the screw tip puts a tiny hole in a new liner

I saw both and cringed. But I didn't want to jinx anything. Now that the cats out of the bag...... yeah. No.

Oh these guys are awful. Constantly griping about how much they hate their boss and they told him this would happen but he made them continue anyway. All he cares about is money, he's a liar don't believe anything he says, it's too hot to be out here, don't tell our boss about what we've talked about, blah blah blah.

That's not even the worst part. Now today, day 2, they're pointing out:

1. A defect in a seam. Merlin is claiming it will flatten once water is on top. The installers are saying no way.
2. That I picked the worst liner (Merlin Shelter Cove) is the worst I could have selected because it shows every blemish on the vermiculite. The "boss" says you won't be able to see it so well once water is in.

Anyone have any thoughts? The boss is supposed to be here around 3PM EST.

Also... I noticed that there was a sort of "subfloor" hanging from the walls between my old liner and pool wall. The installers seemed to have trouble keeping that attached when installing the new liner. Their solution was to rip it all off.

You should really REALLY consider having well points put in to pull excess ground water away from this pool.
