Best Places to Buy Liquid Chlorine

We get nearly all of ours from Wal-Mart. Last batch I bought was only 5 days old. It's not uncommon for them to be out of stock so I check online first. Walmart also stocks 2-packs for something like $9/box (2-pack) so avoid those.

Looks like Lowes recently increased their price. My nearby Lowes stores the chlorine outside in the sun and it's pretty old.
Thanks. My Walmart carries 1-gal ones (dated 2017) and 2-pack boxes (dated 2016). Which Walmart do you buy from?

To all,
I am also a newbie on this forum. I need to add chlorine (bleach) to my pool which has a volume of 15,360 gallons. What would be the amount I add in ounces based upon 3 ppm? 63.6 ounces?

Not the absolute best price especially since Woodmans also sells 12.5% pool "shock" for 2.50./gal but they also sell 5.25% regular bleach for 1.59/gal.

In case they are out of "shock" this would be an OK substitution.

Also, they do not appear to be rationing bleach anymore, at least there was not a sign indicating they were but YMMV.

Ok... Help a guy out. Pretty new to this forum.
So, where do you find and how do you read the date code on a liquid chlorine bottle.
Picked up 4 gallons at WalMart last weekend, $3.64 gal... then 4 gal today from Ace $2.99,
I see black text along the bottom of the jugs. Need the code...

Most use a Julian date code

Just went to Leslie’s to get 10% liquid chlorine for my SLAM — cases are buy one get one free.

He said it was a promotion, not because of my rewards level or anything.

Western Massachusetts - Big Y Supermarket carries the Austins Pool Tech for $3.50 per gallon. Ocean state is $.50 cheaper per gallon if there is one near you. The convenience of the local store and the hassle of covid makes the Big Y deal a winner for me. Rockys Hardware has the 10% HTH for $2.99.

My local Walmart never has liquid chlorine. It's always out of stock. Fortunately I had nine gal 10% from last year, which had degraded to 6,%. Used that up, got 9 more gal online 6% as well. I'll probably have to make a trip to Villa Rica or Douglasville before I finally close the pool on this decidedly bizarre year.

Leslies is 12.5%. By my calculations, that's 25% more chlorine per gallon than 10% chlorine, and being able to drive right up to the door is a plus, and the store guys will carry it to your car if you want. I usually buy at the Cinco Ranch store on SH99--Grand Parkway (it's in the same center as Total Wine, so very convenient). Leslies on Mason Rd has it, as does the one on Westheimer Parkway near Katy. Mason road raised their price to $20 during the shortage, so I've removed them from my list of OK stores. The employees at the Westheimer Parkway store don't wear masks, so I avoid that store for now, too. The SH99 store is pretty busy and turns over pretty fast, so I call first to be sure they're not out of stock.
I just went to Leslie’s near me in The Woodlands and paid $20 for the 4 count. Are you still getting it cheaper at some Leslie’s?

I have purchased 12.5% from Leslie's, 10.5% from Pinch a Penny Pool, and 10% from Home Depot. Also Pool Math app has a feature where you can calculate the price per % of chlorine based on what is type of chlorine is available in your area.
I am in Katy area as well.

I went to Pinch a Penny yesterday for the first time. It is a little place, but they seemed to be well run. I saw the mini-tanks they sell and refill @$3/gallon for fresh 12.5%. I would love to go to NAPCO, but the time it would take would mean buying a larger supply. And the supply would be "dying" as soon as I have it home. I can understand someone going to P-A-P for the convenience. For me 10 gallons would last a two weeks. If I went to NAPCO, I'd have to buy at least 30 gallons at a time to make the trip worthwhile. And they are only open 8AM-Noon, 3 days a week.
