Need to decide ASAP...Changing mind from Sport to Deep end... thoughts? 18x36 Rectangle Auto Cover Indiana

so got a drawing...but it seems shallow is too shallow and starts going deep too soon and then only deep for 6' ... he has returns at 4' too...thoughts?

Jimmythegreek suggested 8 feet length of deep end is plenty and 7 feet deep is plenty; 2-3 feet for deep end returns all 3 walls at deep end is good too...
they said 7 feet long deep end then 14ft for slope then shallow area the rest...[12 feet]... which I liked.

my issue is the shallow in this pool is 3'4" is that too shallow ? [think it's water depth but not 100% sure]

Measure yourself and the fam with a tape measure. I am 6 ft 3 so i really feel uncomfortable in my 3.5 ft. My wife is 5 ft 2 and it works for her.

*as much as i dislike the shallow end, it is a frig-tillion times better than the grass that i once had there. Maybe 2 or 3 frig-tillions.

newdude. I am 5'2" and hubby is 5'11". I don't want 3.5 but for some reason it's required for 8 or 9 feet from stairs in our area ... that's why I'm thinking of doing 9 feet of 3'4" ]that's actual number] and then another 9 feet to 4.5....then going from 4.5 to 7 over

Usually its 48" max for shallow area and a sqft size requirement not a length. You pool is wide plenty of room. I'd go 11-12 ft shallow amd start the slope going to 7 max or 6.5. Yiu have 7.5 on the drawing. 6ft water depth you can jump from above deck easily. Ask why or who requires this 3.5 depth never heard such a thing
The deep end is fine as drawn only uses 10ft in length that's ideal 4ft sides is fine pool is wide

so if i go 12' at 3'4" water depth and then start the slope to 7' water depth will taller folks be able to stand for a while? I'm trying to have one side for shallow stuff [bball maybe light volleyball or just tossing balls] and then a deeper side for floating or cannonballs....

they drew a version of the lower one of my hand drawings above but not the top one...I think I prefer the top one....
I'll attach the top drawing I i did and the 'pro' drawing of my 2nd option.

Do you think doing 12' at 3'4" and then starting the slope would be better? I don't know enough.

I still cannot get an answer as to whether they are drawing water depth or pool wall height.

7.5 on my drawing is 7' water depth.

The whole drawing is pool wall heigh, but they were kind enough to draw the water and use that measurement for you.

This is what i do, i go hang out at my 'sweet spot' halfway down the slope. I like my 'shallow end' shoulder height.

I missed that part. Sorry. Their drawings are almost always wall height. The water height will fluctuate depending on personal preference and evaporation/rain. From an engineering standpoint they can’t say where you may or may not keep your water height once they leave.

I guess I'm wondering why they don't reflect then 4 to 7.5 when clearly that I what I am asking for ... they finally verified that depth will be 3' to 6'8" which has never been my request. I wish I could pull the contract but if I want a pool still this summer I am stuck....they waited until my turn was up to even start drawing plans. obviously I'm frustrated. Thanks for your help.
We can find no code requiring 3' shallow so there's no reason for them to continue to draw it [I've gotten 3 drawings or whatever you call them].

so unfortunately found out the pool company only does 3'4" walls so the water level will be 3' in the shallow. Sigh. I have to make lemonade as here is where I am.

My opinion on design is of zero bearing to you. Your pool, you live with it, you need to be happy. We all threw out ideas just for reference and you took some parts here and other parts there to come up with what should be the best plan for you. In that regard, I think it is the best drawing I ever saw. Unless you aren’t over the moon about it, Then we aren’t too. Lol.

Correction. You will be happily sipping on Margarita infused lemonade while float floating around in the part of your yard that is grass today. Go try and float on that grass right now. Do it and actually go try..... Next time..... whether you are floating on 9 inches or 3 feet is irrelevant. You’ll be over the moon sipping that lemonade. Just sayin.

Ewwwww. !!! Failing to float on mud is even worse than doing it on grass !! The pool just got even cooler. Chin up !!

They are showing wall height on plans. Unless they use 48" walls you are stuck with 3ft water depth. Usually PBs wanna do the same thing over and over. I do 48s once in a while. It's a pain the supply house has to order them they aren't stocked. I charge more for excavation and the liner amd panels cost more. I think 11ft is plenty for shallow the rest slope slowly to a 10ft deep end. 6.5 ft nobody will be touching standing unless 6ft6in tall. My kids jump off a 2.5ft waterfall into 6ft and do flips no problem. You can play sports in that the slope will be gradual the shallower the deep end the better. 6ft water depth is my most popular

thanks! wish you lived close. I can't believe it took them almost 2 weeks to let me know there walls are only 3'4". I would have saved some effort and for sure time. UGH. Let's hope I still get the pool this summer. I think they assumed I knew and I assumed I had options. This is why meeting in person is probably best.

Quick questions though. Should I do a flat shallow for 11 feet and then slope? I had flat shallow for whatever minimum required which is could be 6-9 feet [they are still saying need for stairs] and then gradual slope until 7 feet deep. And what do you do in deep end instead of ladder? Maybe I can suggest it. They are saying I need 2 exits in pool with deep end and my corner benches in deep don't count. I can't find this code anywhere though.

I'm a fan of ladders in deep end kids use them constantly when jumping in it's the quickest way out to jump back or down slide etc.
I just looked at your drawing I didnt see you had corner stairs. I cant see the scale but I assume the first corner panel is an 8ft and they are past that a ways so you definitely need 10ft minimum. How much room do you have around the pool area? Are you against outside stairs like either side entry or at the head of shallow end? I ask because in pool stairs take a good chunk of space up, pool feels much bigger when stairs are outside perimeter
