Tear at the seam of the liner!

My liner is about 4 years old. It's vinyl.
I have a 4-6 inch by 1/2 inch tear, right where the wall and the floor meet.

Behind the tear is the isolation, so it doesn't seem (at least to my eye) to be leaking quickly.

I bought one of those repair kits with the glue and transparent vinyl.
The second the glue touches the water, it dries and won't come close to stick to the wall of the pool.
Looking at tape reviews online, this seems to be common.

I can't replace the liner this year since every single pool store here is out of stock with COVID.

Do you have any suggestion on what I could do to stop the leak and prevent further tearing until the last week of August?

I’m not sure what “behind the tear is the isolation” means.

I have only used an underwater patch kit on mine and it worked fine, but it wasn’t at the seam. Not sure what else you could try, unfortunately.
 
I’m guessing they meant insulation? I had a tear in a seam many years ago on a liner that was about the same age as yours, I ran another 6 or 7 years after patching. I did redo the patch after 3 or 4 years as the edges were raising. I never had an issue with the glue, did you fold the patch over itself until ready to place it in place? This keeps the glue from being exposed to the water any longer than necessary.

Thanks for replying! Yeah, I tried that but the vinyl in the kit seems a bit too thin, and rolls on itself the second we apply the glue. Also, since the tear is at the bottom, it makes it super difficult to reach and keep it dry.
What I think I'll have to do it find a thicker piece of vinyl, and maybe buy glue from another store.
The glue gets 100% dry (like old bathroom silicon) the second it touches water. That doesn't seem to be normal. It might be a bad batch.
 
I had a similar issue last year. I bought a kit from Canadian tire (Stanley brand) You get a tube of uderwater vinyl adhesive, a brush and a big transparent patch but the quality is not great - very thin. Club Piscine and Trevi sell actual liner strips from damaged liners that are much better. The trick is that once you apply the adhesive, you fold the patch on itself so the glue doesn't float off, swim down to the tear and then unfold the patch and slam it down on the tear as fast as a ninja. You have a second or 2 to fine tune the location, then press through the patch to squeeze out any air bubbles. I think It took me 3 tries before I was successful. Good luck

Thanks for the reply! The first glue I bought was bad.
I got a piece of damaged liner and a better glue at Club Piscine.

It worked like a charm on the first try. I haven't lost any water in 2 days.
I don't expect it to last forever, but if I can wait until spring to change the liner, I'll avoid a winter of use on the new one.

Thepoolfactory.com is selling pools and liners right now. I just bought a new liner 3 weeks ago.
