Hello all. I have a new pool and it’s my first chlorine test using the tf100 kit but the water isn’t changing yellow. Any idea why? The pool was shocked by th builder a few days ago.

In your kit is a laminated card. Follow through that and do all the tests. If the builder has not added any CYA/stabilizer/conditioner, no need to test for CYA.

What do you mean it feels like there is chlorine in it?

For pH, you need to test TA first. You need the TA value to determine how much acid to add.

I mean it smells like chlorine
That is not a good sign. A pool that smells like chlorine typically has a chemistry problem.

Is your builder in charge of chemistry maintenance still? How did you get the test data I see in your Poolmath logs from a while a go?

That was from before my pool was built. I was just messing around to see how it works. Maybe it doesn’t smell like chlorine. I could just be my mind.

Do the full test following the laminated instructions in the kit. For TA test make sure you wipe the tip of the bottle with a wet paper towel before each drop to get an accurate reading, this should also be in the instructions.
You only need to do it for first few tests, after that there is no need to wipe the tip.

Post a full set of tests here, then the experts can help you better.

Thanks. What shade

thank you. What shade of red am I looking for? In the beginning it seems purple.

So enter all your test results into Poolmath. Save the data. Then go to Overview, touch the pH, and use a target pH of 7.4. Select the acid you will add and see what Poolmath tells you to add. Post here if you want us to check it.
