ok
Hello! We are in the process of building our first pool. I stumbled across this website while researching glass tile and plaster and I feel like it is a gold mine! We've been ready for gunite for close to 3 weeks but had an unusually long wait for our permit due to Covid. We got our green light about 2 weeks ago and now we are waiting for gunite. I've had so much time to stare at it, I'm starting to pick it apart. It sounds like there are many very experienced people and I know nothing yet! Could you guys take a look at the equipment my PB is recommending and let me know if there are any changes I should implement before proceeding? It is 18' x 36' with an in-pool spa and 11' x 7' sun deck.

Pentair - Easy Touch 8 with salt
Pentair - clean and clear+ 420 Pool
Pentair - clean and clear 75-cascades
Pentair - Intelliflo xp Pool
Pentair - whisperflo 2 hp-Cascades
Pentair - Ultra temp 400

I'll have more questions and will post more info soon. Good night!

How many gallons will be in the pool?

Pentair - Easy Touch 8 with salt - Have you considered the newer IntelliCenter?
Pentair - clean and clear+ 420 Pool - good
Pentair - clean and clear 75-cascades - ok
Pentair - Intelliflo xp Pool - I don't see an XP model. I like the VSF 011056 pump.
Pentair - whisperflo 2 hp-Cascades - ok
Pentair - Ultra temp 400 - Pentair has an Ultratemp 140 Heat Pump and a MasterTemp 400 gas heater. Which is it?

Hey Allen!
Thanks for replying to my post. The pool will be about 28,000 gallons. I've asked the PB about the Intellicenter and he said it's "expensive and redundant except for a built-in antenna". I'm not savvy enough to debate this with him but I'm learning a lot on TFP! As for the heater, I'm pretty sure its the MasterTemp 400 based on price. As far as the pump goes, I will get that info tomorrow. Thanks for your expertise!

Are you getting ScreenLogic which is an optional component that enables remote control and programming of the EasyTouch from a PC, phone, or tablet?

When you cost out the EasyTouch + Screenlogic it ends up being about the same as the IntelliCenter.

Thanks for the link! I’ll forward it over to him. And yes, he did tell us about the upgrade for ScreenLogic and we will have that. Any reason not to get Intellicenter? To be honest, I have never had a pool and now that I’m reading and familiarizing myself with all of the things, I feel like I’m in over my head! How will I learn all of this?!? “Sigh”, I guess with a little help from my TFP friends. My head hurts. I’m going to bed. 😉

I have an 8' CMP Natural Wonders Cascade Waterfall and an in pool spa. Does that make sense?

No, does not make sense. You have a separate Pentair - whisperflo 2 hp-Cascade pump for that. The XF pump is described by Pentair as "Variable Speed Pump for Larger, Feature-rich Pools". I don’t see why you need that since your features are being handles by the other pump. Unless the builder is giving it to you for the same price as the VSF 011056 pump.

Even if it's only halfway done and there is a 30 minute torrential downpour?
I know it needs to be watered but when they finished (in the rain) they trapped the whole thing. Pb said they just don’t want constant rain (water) on it but now it’s not getting any rain(water). So is the humidity in the air enough then? I went out to cover a part that the tarp blew off of and it’s steamy under there. I assume it will be fine.

So I’ve been watering my gunite 3-4 times a day. So nice to see it looking like an actual pool now! Here is where the rainwater made a little stream and caused a blemish. Will the gunite guys have to come back to fill this and their drainage holes or will the plaster take care of it?

Would it be because of the in-floor cleaning system? Other than that I have no idea. But more is better than less, right?

Gunite guys came by today to check on the pool (yay!) and drilled a bottom hole out more so the water could drain better. They didn’t fix the rut so I guess the plaster will fix it later.
