In ground 17000 gallon fiberglass pool we get A LOT of leaves and sticks and also rolly pollys and worms in our pool. I work from home and clean out the skimmer basket and skim a few times a day to keep it clean, also we have our robot go sometime twice a day. We removed two big trees and got the other trimmed but most of this is from our neighbors yard now. Our FC and CC change daily depending on how much ends up in the pool however cc very rarely goes slightly pink from time to time.
CYA- 30
FC-6
CC-0
CH-250
PH-7.3
ALK- 100

After winter we noticed the pool getting darker and grungy wet tried shocking and slamming and brushing nothing seemed to work. Well magic eraser worked but can't do the whole pool like that at all. We then noticed dark dots forming and we though we had mold but doing the puck test and magic eraser did nothing. Someone told us about absorbic acid so we sprinkled that over one of the dots and sweet lord everywhere it touched bone white! it was magical. So we lowered the chlorine and dumped in the right amount the next day white pool and then added in the proper amount of sequstriant. However we also go cloudier and cloudier and we also realized we might have an algae problem starting.

We raised the pool chlorine every day by one until we were about 10 days in then slammed for 5 days strait until we passed the tested good and brought it back down. I have also been pretty aggressive about keeping the PH at about 7.3-7.4.

However it's back and getting worse every day now it's been about a week since we have been keeping things nice and balanced the water is still crystal clear but things are getting grungy again :(

Is there anything else we can do? is there another process that is different then absorbic acid? or is this going to be life with our pool and situation.

With the amount of known organics, I would keep my FC on the higher side if it were my pool :) FC/CYA Levels It's safe to swim in FC levels up to SLAM for your CYA level :)

Have you done the overnight loss test on your pool, to see if the FC is being used up?

Yep after the SLAM we did and we were at 1ppm loss however every day it's different some 1ppm some up to 2ppm depending on debris in the pool. I just bumped my FC up to 8 and started to check in the mornings and at night trying to maintain that level. Been crazy sunny this week and no rain which I think is not helping the trees shedding their leaves in my pool.

To me, it sounds like the you'll need to up your FC level slightly, to deal with your heavier organics load. No FC should be lost overnight, unless it is "attacking" (not a technical term) something in the water.

A 30 ppm CYA in Texas at this time of year is pretty low.

Your iron issue. The best way is to do an ascorbic acid treatment and then exchange your water to fresh, iron free water.

Is your fill water from a well?

No city water so we would have to get it trucked in bleh. Might just be a dingy pool. I can up the CYA some got gun shy when we bought this house last year the CYA was over 100 they were a puck and shock family.

OK -- do realize that sequestrant is consummable. It must be added on a maintenance basis.

Oh man no didn't know that. wonder if it's to late since that dark gray is coming back. Might need to redo the whole thing again then. On another note got more CYA in a sock to bump it to 40 going now. Unfortunately my neighbor is blowing their yard and now I have a nice layer of dust and probably pollen floating... Can't win
