I have a wired Hayward AQL-P-4 control unit in my house that has stopped responding to commands. The display works and the unit will display the outside control unit display and menu changes that are performed outside; however I am unable to control or change menus from the inside the house on the control unit.

The unit is 1 year old. The issue started after I did a Salt Cell Cleaning last week. Does anyone have any advice on troubleshooting? I have searched in the manual and have not found a solution. Thank you for your time.

I also have the same problem...the menu does not respond...yet i can uses > < arrows to see temp, salt level, time etc. the menu is also disabled in main panel in pool house...any suggestions would really help ...thankyou

In frustration, i decided to take another look at this problem. I held the menu button down using the tip of a my screwdriver and rotated around the corners of the button itself....and VOILA!!!....the menu appeared. Now my issue is to get the other buttons to respond.

In the end it was the contacts for the buttons inside the display panel...

is there a way to dissemble the panel and clean the contact points for the rubber buttons?
Update: I took apart both display panels to get a look at the contacts...sure enough there was a thin layer of residue/dust...whatever it was ...I cleaned all the contacts and also the contact points of all the buttons. Everything works perfectly now. Save the money and check this first. I'm sure a tech would say replace display panel or better yet, replace main board.

Make sure "remote menu is :enabled"
Find it by unlocking configuration
