I do not have a salt test so I will have do pick one up. They system is going to work based off of what it *thinks* The salt level is though isn’t it?

True - but the most common sign of failure of a SWCG or one of its components is low salt. So you want to check to be sure the pool water needs salt before just blindly adding it. We have had many folks come to the forum with sky high salt levels due to believing their SWCG readouts.

The salt levels reported by most cells is not very accurate but the cell does need to see above the low threshold and below the high threshold to allow salt generation ( most manufacturers allow some wiggle room on their specs due to inaccuracy). Use a test kit to get the actual salt level close to the middle of the requirement for your cell. The Taylor K 1766 kit is one of the most accurate for salt levels
Thanks I was looking at options. It will arrive Tuesday. For the time being I am going to assume it is ideal since pool math said to put in 44 lbs and I dumped in a 40 lb bag
So probably a silly question. What chlorine level is the standard chlorine/PH kits testing. Is that FC also and the Taylor test is just more accurate?

The standard OTO is TC, FC + CC. And only to 3ppm. There are some that test to 5 ppm.
Ok so I am a little confused here. I added 7 lbs of stabilizer on Friday which should have brought me to a CYA of about 65 - 70. I just tested if and I am only reading 30.

Over Friday and into Saturday morning using mesh paint strainer bags in two skimmers.

OK == I suspect that a significant amount of CYA went through the paint strainers into your filter undissolved.

The CYA should show up in a few days. If your test still does not show the right amount, your pool volume may be a bit different than you estimate.

I took the size off of the manufacture’s plans. I guess it’s possible that they did not put a lot of effort into the calculations.
John, I think Marty is on point. It's always possible that the total gallons are off from what was designed but never by a massive amount. I also believe it's hung up in the filter and will take days to filter back into the pool. To believe it's not in the cartridge your pool would have to be more then 2X the pool volume and I'm sure it's not. Give it some time and check again.
Will do. Gonna play the waiting game. Will give it a couple of days before checking cya again. Gonna keep on top of FC as I lost some ground since yesterday, 1.5 tonight. I turned up the % on the swg since I do not have any bleach on hand and am leaving the system running overnight.
Since you don't have any liquid chlorine I would bump up the % overnight to 100 and check in the morning what you have. FC of 1.5 is too low to take chances in my opinion.
I turned it up to 80. Pool math says it should have me good in 7.45 hours. If it is not in range in the morning I will go pick up some bleach.
So I deftam not using my system correctly. FC was 0.5 this morning. I added bleach and went to the aqua rite system. Salt cell is turned on in config and set to 80% in settings. Diagnostics shows it as off and filter off. Flow switch shows flow. I set it to super chlorinate and I heard it switch on and I got volt readings on the display. I am wondering since I am not using the system to control the filter yet if that is keeping the salt cell off.
FC is now 6.5 between the bleach and the SWG running in super chlorinate. Once the sudden downpour stops I will try to figure out why the swg is not working normally
