Pentair Warrior SE vs. Dolphin S200

Pool is new as of September last year so still in the testing water for chlorine, ph, and TA almost every day. One of the other reasons for doing it myself is pool service and I have been working at odds with each other. Their TA target is somewhere above 100 and ph rises almost daily to high 7s or 8+. Plus they get chlorine of 3 when I get 5. So I get these wild swings in numbers. Manage in between but after all my reading on this site realized, I can do this.

Its not that bad once things settle down..The folks here are very helpful
I have also noticed it takes PH a day sometimes to adjust to chemicals, mine will go down and back up.
If keeps raising post all your test results and ask and somebody that knows a lot more then me can help

I am also considering the Warrior SI vs the Warrior SE from Marina Pool and Spa. I think the only difference is a Bluetooth remote and a "Quick Clean" option on the SI which runs $50 more than the SE. Anyone used these remotes or have a non-remote version and wish you had a remote? I've never owned a cleaner before so not sure how I will be using it. Is this something I will drop in the pool once a week and turn on manually, or something you leave in and a remote would be handy to start it up?
Have you tried the “quick clean” option yet? I’m looking at either the SE or SI. I’m wondering if the quick option might be nice to have since I don’t have a large pool.

I have the SE which doesn’t have Quick Clean, and an 8700 gallon pool. The first few times I ran it I was pushed for time and turned it off after an hour or so. Still did an excellent job and then when I had more time at the house, ran it the full cycle. I guess that's my version of Quick Clean! :D The SI's other features may work better for your application. I am very pleased with the SE.

I have the SE, curious what quick clean is also.
The SE does have an automation mode where we 'think" you can turn it on and off with a smart plug. Not a lot of documentation on it..I had it working I think but can't find any documentation..
I may email Pentair one day

So as an update. I received the Pentair Warrior SI this weekend from Marina and had it get to work yesterday. Pool was opened last Monday, my polaris was inoperable, and the company that opened my pool did a Tick poor job of vacuuming at opening, mostly because it was pouring down rain. So my pool was in need of some TLC. The bot really is plug and play. I let it do its first 2 hour cycle which got about 80% of everything. Downloaded the app and connected to it via BT, really easy. Ran it again and tried the manual control via the app. It was responsive but driving it around is like driving a semi. Turning took a bit of time. Still, it slowly worked and was able to get it to go where I wanted. Ran it a third time in my spa which was really dirty. After an hour that was perfectly cleaned. Cord never was tangled up. Reached all parts of my pool. Cleaning the filter(s) and bot was easy/painless. I'm very happy with my purchase. The Polaris has been sent to detention to collect cobwebs and learn from its mistakes.

I bought the SE a couple weeks ago after growing tired of manually vacuuming this 35k gallon deep end pool I inherited and ohmygod this is so much better. Not always spotless but an extra clean or two a day gets just about everything. Remarkable how much stuff it picks up. I went back to the rough filters because the ultra fine was picking up so much spring debris the water in the robot would be black after a day or two and it seemed to do a much poorer job. Probably go back to the ultra fine once summer hits.

Also denied the rebate for not hitting the price target. Oh well!

Did pentair Denied the rebate? I am considering s200 but Marina recommended se
Also does anyone know whether maytronics has any rebates soon?

Pentair denied mine again. Gave it a second try but both rebate form and an email to them came back as,
uhhhhh....NO. It didn't meet the minimum purchase, but since some others on the forum were successful, I gave it a couple of goes. Oh well, got a great price and outstanding service (thank you Marina Pool & Spa!).

Don't know about Maytronics, but I seem to remember seeing info on prior rebates they offered for the S200. I was looking at it before the Pentair SE. Google the S200 + rebates, it might give you a timeframe on what time of year they’ve offered them in the past.

Thank you for the insight and sorry to hear about denials. Seems the rebate is usually $25 for S200. Not worth the wait. I am planning to give warrior SI a try. Someone in forum mentioned marina upgrade their filters. Can i get more details please. Thanks

Wanted to add that based on the great threads here, I also just picked up a new Warrior SI from Marina. Our new robot, Bruce, arrived last Friday and he’s been a huge help in cleaning the pool up.

For $50 more, the SI upgrade seemed like an easy add from my perspective (bluetooth remote driving, additional filter, better warranty). I used the bluetooth app to control it on the first day. Like another poster mentioned it IS a little like driving semi, easy to move forward and back but turning is a little tricky. That being said, our deep end is 9’ deep using it there to clean up around the drains works great. Since the SI is essentially (almost) the S30i/S300i without the caddy, for way less, it just seems like a no-brainer.

The only thing I’m trying to figure out is that it lists in some places a 2.5 hour mode, but I can’t find that. It only shows the normal (2 hour) mode and quick (1 hour) mode. Not a big deal as Bruce can work all day if need be. ;) (y)

Hi - out of curiosity, is it acceptable to leave it in the pool all the time, or does it need to be removed when not in use?
Some folks take them out and clean each time and leave them out when not in use. Others run them over several days to a week before cleaning and keep them in the pool.
So many choices.

I have mine is automation mode and have it set to run from 4:30 until 7am..But I also bought a refurbished Amazon echo and have it outside but in a covered area and can say " alexa run the dolphin for one hour"
My little dog goes nuts when it climbs to the top, tried to bit the wheel once :)

What is the average life expentancy of a robot? My first one, a Dolphin Atlantis, died this year and would have been 7 in August. I used it regularly, but it was stored inside when not in use. I think the motor burnt out since one of the contact pins was had melted and charred plastic around it and inside the motor compartment was wet.

Thanks to this thread I called Marina and got a new Active 20. I figure with the rebate it's a few bucks less than the Pentair version. They said they couldn't get any of the S200s at the moment as their distributor is out of them.

L,

I have bought two S200's from Margaret and they have been working just fine.. At the time they were $700 bucks each.. I have never used the warrior, but I would probably go with another S200, even though there is no logical reason to do so..

I have no use for a caddy, but many here really love theirs.. The key is how you plan to use yours... I only use my robot about once or twice a week, except when the stuff is falling off the trees. I have the power supply mounted off the ground and under the house eave. The robot sits on a couple of small 4 x 4 blocks, also under the eave of the roof. If you plan to move your robot, in and out of say your garage, then a caddy would come in handy..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Is there an easier way to get in touch with marina pool and spa? I cant order on their website, Their phones goes to answering machine.

Is there an easier way to get in touch with margereth?

Ahmet
