Pentair Warrior SE - length of power cord and Aux power control

Hello,

I just purchased a Warrior SE from Margaret at Marina Pool Spa & Patio (thanks for the strong recommendations everyone) and now I need to install a new exterior outlet on the side of my house to power it. I have a small overhang off the side of the house (like underneath a bay window) that I plan to keep the power supply under so it's protected from the weather. I'd like to attach the outlet to my Aqua Plus controller box since there's already power there, but it's 6-8 feet away from the overhang where I would want to mount the Warrior power supply. How long is the power cord from power supply to plug?

Also, does anyone control their robot via the Aux relay on the Aqua Plus (PL-PLUS-20G)? I have an external Aqua Plus remote mounted inside the house that would allow me to turn on and off the Aux input but I'm not sure if when you do that the robot would automatically start up when power is first applied to the power supply? Doing this would be pointless if when power is applied you still have to go outside and press the power button on the power supply in which case I'd just mount the outlet directly under the overhang instead (always on/not controlled by Aqua Plus).

Hope that makes sense. Thanks!

ou can put a dolphin in automation mode. You might be able to do the same thing with the Warrior.

Has anyone done this?? I ask because I tried and could not get it to work.. I'm pretty sure it will not work if you just turn the outlet on and off.. I believe that you have to have a WiFi outlet and then tell it to turn on somehow..

I just quit screwing with it, as it was not worth my time, but would really like to know how it is supposed to work.

Could be it is so dirt simple I just could not understand it...

The automation mode works for me on the Warrior SE. You have to hold in the weekly timer button starting with the power off.

When automation mode is then turned on, the power supply turns on and off (and starts up the robot automatically) when the power is applied or removed. I'm going to try hooking it up to a TP-Link Kasa Wi-Fi outlet next. The blue cord isn't long enough to go with my original plan so this will be my backup.

Thanks for the help everyone!

So, it IS ok to leave your robot in the pool all the time? I just finalized with my PB that they are removing the cost of the suction side cleaner from my install as I am planning to buy one of these nifty robots once the pool is actually close to being done. I was under the impression that the major downside I was going to have with the robot was the need to put it in the water manually every couple days since the power supply box seems like not a good idea to leave sitting out in the rain and sun all the time.

Jim, it does work! I did mine and nothing happened so I assumed it did nothing..But after reading jphaus' comment I went out turned it off, then unplugged and reconnected and the cleaner started ;)

That's perfect, all I really wanted to do, start it from my phone or schedule it to run when I want it to..I am going to have it come on early AM before the guard dogs wakes up but late enough for a clean pool

I just use smart plugs, have about 10 in the house for different things..Alexa can also turn it on and off if needed.

I leave mine in the pool but have the power supply mouonted in a room..I think some folks here have made a little house or shelter for the power supply. My understanding it's water resistant but not water proof so OK to get it wet

My first thought is how is pushing electric buttons on something that has no power going to work.

But I tried it and it worked!!! I only tried it once and it is getting dark now, but at first glance it works..

Thanks,

Jim R.

I did the same thing last night..It flashed and powered off.
Why I like this blog, people finding and sharing cool ideas! I don't remember seeing anything about that in my manual

Can we make the video or this thread a sticky for pool cleaners? I know a lot of folks here have this model and would like this feature?
I have mine set to turn on at 4 am and off at 6am but like the idea I can look outside and turn it on with my phone :)

I am not sure whats up..I set mine to run last night..Then today I turned it back on using the smart plug and it wouldn't run..Not sure if isn't not in automation mode anymore or only runs once a day?
Are yall having good luck?

I think I figured out why mine quit working..If you push the power button it seems to turn automation off..I put a hair net reminding me not to touch the button. Maybe I need to stick an amazon echo outside :)..I can say " alexa turn on the Dolphin" and it says " do you mean Pentair warrior" JK it actually turns it on and off :)

My automation mode has been working great for a couple weeks now, hooked up to a TP Link Kasa outlet and Google Home. I have GH remind me that the robot must be in the pool because there is always the risk of turning it on while it's out of the pool which would be bad.

I think I made the mistake of pushing the power button which may have disabled it..
I did watch a demo on how to test and it does test for water and should turn it's self off :)
