Pre-dissolve CYA in a bucket?

I managed to dissolve 4lbs in 30 min last year.
Sock filled, put in skimmer. Let it sit 15 min. Come back and squeeze it for 15 min. Done. I prefer the skimmer as the sock near return ends up letting some of the dissolved cya settle to the vinyl floor. If I have the robot running it's not a problem of course.

Yeah, but was it in cold water or warm water, @borjis ? Makes a big diff if you ask moi. (I know, you *didn't* ask moi....)

This was cold water. And my hands were badly cramped afterward lol. But it was done
It was actually 2lbs. That's all that fits this sock. Every winter I lose about 20 ppm of cya.

I donated the sleeves from a long sleeve shirt this year. I left one full, tied up, in each basket and the next day it took 5 minutes to swim around and disperse the goo that it had become. Next time I'll probably just leave them for 2 days and it will be even easier. More often than not, its not an emergency that needs completing instantly. Why not make it as little work as possible ? And when i did the swimming part, it was 95% swimming and 5% 'work'

Had you used a stocking like i do it would have disappeared. The shirt has a tight weave and won't let much pass.

It was on the fly and I just made do. I’ll be better prepared with that info for next time. Thanks.

I just added a little over 2 lbs in an athletic sock in the skimmer and the water temp is about 55 degrees. It took about two days including going out and squeezing the sock a couple of times a day.
