Australian market - Dolphin floor cleaner only or floor and wall?

Hey there. This is a general query, applies to anywhere, but with regards to makes/models - I am based in Australia.
I'm going around in circles trying to decide on a robotic pool cleaner and I'm looking for advice, thanks.
So I originally got interested in a robotic pool cleaner when a pool tech came around to service the pump, and whilst he was there he threw a Dolphin E10 in and the result was great. The pool tech said he doesn't bother with the wall cleaning models since the floor cleaner focuses effort where you want it, and you can always scrub the walls with a pole and brush if you really need to (which I already have, on occasion).
Pool is only about 8m x 4m, in ground pool, rendered concrete.
So the I was thinking of a step up from the Dolphin E10 and getting the Dolphin S200. But that's almost double the price, really just so that it can scrub the walls? Then if I'm correct then it's nearly half that again to get the S300i which allows you to select between a floor-only mode versus floor-and-wall. I'm thinking I'm not going to want it to clean the walls on every single clean- there will be mostly times when I only want it to pick up the dust and leaves from the floor.
So I've gone full circle and I'm leaning towards potentially just the floor cleaning Dolphin E10 or S50. Does anyone have experience with this? Am I wrong when all the pool cleaners talk about cleaning the walls and waterline, that I just don't see the point on this? I keep on top of my pool being chlorinated and the walls look clean to me (no algae) but maybe I'm missing something..? Thanks in advance.

Well he learned his lesson one day when I was in the pool. His ONLY job with the pool is to brush the wall. I was in the pool and happened to run my hands on the side/wall. I saw a poof of yellow/green  WHAT in the world??? I had tested the water the night before and it was all spot on. Hubby came out to join me in the pool...........I asked him when was the last time he had brushed the sides. "I am not sure as it looks fine so I have not even thought about it." I then ran my hand over a different part of the wall. When he saw the poof of yellow/green he could not get to the brush fast enough LOL We really don't know how long it had been so he just tries for every 3 days or so to be on the safe side. With us having an above ground pool with only one return and only running the pump on low I am sure made it easy for the algae get started on the walls. I did a SLAM with wall brushing twice a day for 3 days. It has not happened since.

Johnny,

There is no reason that I can think of for not wanting the robot to clean the walls... All the robots that I have had cleaned the floor, the walls and the tile line, including the S200.. It can't hurt anything.

It is not something you have to switch on and off.. It is part of a routine the robot runs.. It will make a few passes on the floor and then it will come up the wall and clean some of the tile line and then back down to the floor.. It will repeat this process over and over until the whole pool is done. The S200 runs this routine for about two hours.

I have two S200's and it is the best robot I have had so far.

Thanks,

Jim R.

But I gotta ask, Jim R, - by "two S200's" are you saying you bought one S200 and replaced it? At what age?

Johnny,

Sorry, I should have explained.. I have three pools.. One at my house and two at rental houses... I originally had two very old Dolphin Diagnostics at the rental pools that I bought used, so they were well over 10 years old.. I replaced one of them with an S200 and I moved the Dolphin Premier that was at my house over to the other rent house. I used the Premier at my house for over five years before replacing it with the 2nd S200.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Update: so, I bought a Dolphin S200. I just put it to it's first cycle, and it works great. I had let the leaves and dirt build up after the last few weeks since I knew I was going to get a robot, so couldn't be bothered to manually clean it. As a result, I full expected to maybe have to initially run it through a few cycles in order to get it back to clean. But it looks great after just one cycle. At this stage, I can't see myself as having to run it more than once per week, which will be very convenient.
Picked up both leaves and dirt, no problems, and did the walls without seeming to spend an excessive amount of time on them.
Thanks for the advice.
