Add phone control to Pentair EasyTouch 8?

I have a Pentair EasyTouch 8. The remote will no longer communicate (address won't lock and tried all the troubleshooting stuff).

I've decided it's time to modernize and control my pool with my smart phone and Alexa.

I'm looking at the screenlogic 2 kit, but I'm having a tough time deciphering how it connects.

It seems you have two choices:

1. Run a wire into your home to connect to your router.

2. Connect an old school transmitter to the controller and another inside your home to the router.

Is Pentair really this archaic, or is there something newer?

I have terrific wifi in my yard.

What do I need to allow me to control my pool from my android device without running a cable into my home to the router or worrying about the range of some old school wireless phone type device with crappy range.

Surely I must not be understanding this correct or don't know about a newer product.

I'd appreciate any input.

Thank you.

Pete,

When I initially installed ScreenLogic, I used the hard wire technique.. Worked great for about a year or so, until my neighbor took a bad lighting strike.. I got what was left over.. It came in the cable from the EasyTouch and blew up the protocol adapter and everything connected to the same Ethernet switch as the adapter.. I now use the wireless link that came with ScreenLogic and it has worked perfectly..

Your only two choices are either the hard-wire or the wireless link... I no longer recommend the hard-wire approach.

The only way to use your PC, Tablet or Phone is to install ScreenLogic.. I suggest that you get P/N 522104, which comes with the Protocol Adapter and the wireless transceivers..

Basically the EasyTouch talks "Pentair".. the Protocol converts Pentair into Ethernet which is then connected to your home network.

The wireless links that you currently have for your Pentair Remotes cannot be used to run ScreenLogic.

Thanks,

Jim R.
