Very nice. Just a word of caution about letting the munchkins and dog into the excavation. The sides don’t look shored up and it is possible for them to fail. I’m not speaking from experience with pool digs but trench digs. If the pool was excavated from bedrock then the hazard would be minimal but soil is susceptible to failure due to various factors. It’s hard to limit the fun but best to keep them out of the deep end and middle deep to be extra cautious and far from the side walls.

It’s gonna be beautiful, but Pic # 3 is the icing on the cake. THATs the kind of memory maker you guys are building. The kids arms are flailing because one of them yelled ‘last one in the deep end is a rotten egg!’ And the race was on. While inspector Doggo checked the workmanship. Bravo

Yeah, I knew the safety fence was going up soon so this was probably their only time to go in there until everything was done

Thanks, we went back and forth a few times with the design and made some last minute and same day changes but I'm very happy with how it turned out. It fits the space well and we still have plenty of patio and grass areas for the kids.

Things are moving along well. I am scheduled for steel and plumbing tomorrow, just hope today's rain doesn't push things out.

Anyone have experience putting a safety cover on travertine decking? I assume we need to pour some concrete footers below where the pins would go for additional support. Anyone have any thoughts?

The anchors only have force applied to them sideways. I can easily pull mine up and out of the flagstone bricks but side to side is rock solid. (Pun intended). The overall tile pattern will have plenty of strength to hold the cover.

Thanks, the PB said the same thing. Just said the travertine could crack so just have some extra.

I have a question about our skimmer/return location. They finished steel yesterday. I don't think they are finished with plumbing but I am a little concerned about the return placement. The contract spells out 6 returns. Both the deep end bench and by the tanning ledge have a single PVC run that tees off into two. If I count those as two returns, that is 4, there is another in the middle between the two skimmers. I would think I would need more on the opposite side of the pool pushing things towards the skimmer. Picture below. Blue is the returns, red are the two skimmers and the yellow are the two lights.



I am thinking they just haven't trenched that side yet because of the rain we had.

Thoughts?

Nope! IF those 4 are really returns that is a *silly* way to do them (really wanted to say stupid ). WHY would there be two returns THAT close together??? AND there should not be a return that close to the skimmer. It will push stuff right past the skimmer!!

So I spoke to the PB and he did not recommend adding additional return. He said there is no issue with having the returns on the same side of the skimmer as they aren't intended to push debris into the skimmer. He said he would add one for me if I wanted but said we may need to turn it off. He said he calculated everything based on my pump, pool size, etc. and it could throw off the balance. I've read conflicting reviews about return placement. Sounds like having them all on one side isn't necessarily a bad thing as long as you are getting proper circulation and turn over. The jets by the tanning ledge will push debris off those areas and the skimmers are downwind. The are coming to Gunite tomorrow. Any last minute thoughts? This PB is very recommend and regarded and so I am inclined to trust them on it. Thanks.
