May I ask where everyone is buying their chlorine from? I know shelf life is important and making sure it is not old after reading threads. I am also wondering if more people just go for the bleach or the actual liquid chlorine? I am just starting to move myself to the TFP way of pool upkeep. Our pool is 30 years old and we are the 2nd owners. I know for a fact the previous owners used pucks to chlorinate because they left a half bucket behind when we bought the house. The only pool supply place close to me is Leslie's. I feel like I read somewhere, where their chemicals are not the best. I will be ordering a new pool test kit when I can, as the one we have is not any of the ones recommended on here. Anyway of just buying what I am lacking in my kit for now? It is one we had ordered off of Amazon. We had alot of rain a few days ago and now my pool is light green and cloudy. I can see green algae gathered on the steps Thanks for the help.

Not sure about the Belton area, but I just go to Home Depot for their 10% 3-packs. Convenient and fairly competative cost. You could ask around to see if anyone there refills chlorine containers. You might get a better deal that way.

By the way .... welcome to TFP!

What test kit do you have now? What are you lacking in your kit?

You can buy individual Taylor reagent refills and some tests at TF-100 Refills

Although price it out. It may be less expensive to just buy the TF-100 Test Kits

Green means you need the right test kit and the SLAM Process

Thank you for the HD suggestion. Ours does not have any or didnt last weekend. I have already checked about buying in bulk or refill. I have not found anywhere as of yet.

I will check my Walmart today or tomorrow. What brand is yours carrying, do you know?
It's important to look at the percentage of sodium hypochlorite to ensure you're getting the best deal. I think Great Value is at 8%. Clorox will be around 6%.

Obviously don't get any scented or low splash or marketing gimmick bleach.

The Home Depot brand HDX is 10% and you can see how old it is by looking at the Julian date.

Had more rain today and now the pool looks like this. Also here is my ph I just took. Was showing some chlorine yesterday, today nothing. Pool temp is like very warm bath water.

You need to follow the SLAM Process to clear the algae and you can only do that with a recommended test kit.

Add 10 ppm to the pool daily of liquid chlorine until you get your test kit.
