Spun the shaft, seems to spin easily, depending on how the shaft is rotated the hum is different which makes sense based on the way motors work..

Finding people say the start caps go bad pretty regularly.

1. How can I test the cap before sourcing a replacement?
2. This booster is less than a year old I could probably get my PB to come look, but they are terrible. Is this expected to fail this quickly?
3. Serial number is pb022818253, any way to tell when this was made? A year old to me, but could it be 4 years old ie why the cap failed?

Going this route in parallel to sourcing the right cap.
As a note, I was able to order 2x of these capacitors online. Really crossing my fingers on this fix. For $25 for the two, I'll be satisfied if this fixes it. Since Polaris/Zodiac mentions your warranty is only valid if installed by a professional, I assume they'll need something of the same to remove the part. If not, I'm not sure I feel comfortable pulling the booster out myself and labor will certainly be more than $25.

It looks like the pump was made February 28 2018.

Did you use the correct capacitor?

Check the voltage to make sure that it's correct.
I used one that had the same capacitance and voltage rating.

Check the voltage on the cap? Should it be present before trying to turn on the pump? I don't have a great way to instrument it while turning on the pump. I guess I could try to do it via the iaqualink app, just difficult.

Another company not to use in the future. Good thing they are not in my general local area, for those in MA Clearwater Spa Company is also a PITA
