Walmart Pool Essentials - Stock Up?

We are still about 30 days from getting water in our pool, but Walmart is starting to thin out their summer items for HallowThanksMas season on those aisles. Do they carry their Chlorinating Liquid year round? Should I stock up on some now, and will it stay good through the winter in the garage?

If you can get recent dates, grab some. I don't think ours stocks it year round.

But a TX garage is usually too hot to store it in w/o it degrading some.

It appears that Walmarts are the same everywhere. They want the pool supplies cleared off the shelves by the end of September (in my area) so they can get ready for the Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas seasons. I spoke to the manager at the Walmart here and she agreed to keep ordering the chlorine until the end of September. (After an employee told her that it flies off the shelves as soon as they get a shipment).
The good news is that the production date for the Essentials product they get is usually less than a month old.
The Essentials chlorine they carry is 10% strength and my understanding is that it starts losing its strength after about 6 months...if it’s kept in a cool, dark place.

How much does the Walmart there charge for a gallon?

Most of the Walmart in my area is out of liquid Chlorine. I eventually found one that has many. Pool section has shrink in size so I feel they are done for the season.

Try ordering it online. I just got 12 gallons through pickup today. The first order on Sunday for hosed up somehow, so I called corporate and they redid the order, along with a discount code for $25 for use on another order AND a $25 discount on the new chlorine order. I never go in the store and grab what's on the shelves, I always order online for pickup. It's the TFP way!

I've tried several Wal-Mart stores in my area and they are done with the liquid chlorine. I have one bottle left and approximately 5 weeks left of pool time. Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations on what else to use? I'm in East Tennessee.
***Note to self, next year, stock up before July 15th.

Can you order it online at walmart, for store pickup as Wobblerlorri mentioned above? I also believe Lowes/Home Depot carry the chlorine.

I've tried ordering online with pick up from all my local stores, so far I've tried about 5. They've all cancelled my order stating they're out of stock.

Thank you, Lowe's shows they have some in stock. It's only 10% for 3.86 when Wal-Mart had 12% for 3.64 but I'll take what I can get I guess. I can only find bleach up to 6% around here.

I doubt the Walmart LC was 12%. I have never seen 12.5% at a Walmart. Might check that.

Yeah, Wal-Mart is 10% unless you're buying something besides Pool Essentials.

Try calling corporate Wal-Mart about the chlorine. 1-800-WAL-MART.

Our local one had it as early/late as December. Only a week ago did I have an issue getting some and the "outdoor" section person (who I think lives there she is there so much!) said she mistakenly thought there was a pallet in the back and didn't order it but was had that morning. I haven't been there since (got 80 gallons @ Atwood's) but next time I am there, I will take a gander.

It's labeled at 10% but I believe it to be stronger than that as long as it's fresh.

If you go to the big box home improvement stores, check the date on the bottles. Both the big box stores here have pool essentials chlorine...but the date on the bottles is 2018
Same thing at the one pool store that carries liquid chlorine. Production date is in November of 2018. And it’s 3 times higher than Walmart

I've only had my pool running for less than a week now. Does Lowe's carry it year round? I'm trying to figure out how much I really need to keep on hand at the house.

I don’t know if they can order it year round. You would need to ask the store manager. But what they appear to do here is keep the stock until it sells. No matter how old it gets. That’s why I would check the date. If the chlorine they have was produced in 2018, like the stuff at the store here, you would be better off looking for a generic brand of bleach that doesn’t contain any polymers. Even if it’s only 6.25%

Lowe's stores their chlorine outside in the garden section and is prime to leaking. Don't ask the rear carpet in my truck how I know that.

FWIW, I've never seen liquid chlorine locally at any of the stores y'all can get it at, nor is it available now. I could probably get it at a pool/spa store. I may call around tomorrow. I bet it won't be cheap. I don't mind using bleach, but I'd love to try a higher concentrate. Just for fun. I just can't get it here like other places.

We're just not very swimmy I guess. This summer, being the coolest/cloudiest in at least 7 or 8 years. If not longer. And me with my CYA at 50ppm (insert idiot measurer - me), instead of the 20-30 I normally do, in much hotter summers. Due to cloud cover that I thought was real. haha

I get the feeling that Walmart might have brought some in when they promoted pools earlier this spring, but likely didn't keep it on the shelf long if they did. We only got Walmart like 20 years ago. I know Fred Meyer didn't jump on that bandwagon (our local "Walmart" before Walmart was a thing), and I've never seen it at Home Depot either.

Y'all are lucky to be able to find it. If I could I'd go get me some of that last stock.

Elsewise I'm doing 6% at $1.49 a small bottle I haven't even looked at ounces yet. My pool costs about $4/week in bleach.
