New pool build- equipment questions

Hi, I've heard good things about this site and just got around to registering. We plan to have an in-ground gunite pool installed. Been leaning toward saltwater because I liked the one a friend had and never liked the smell of chlorine pools and eye irritation from them. All of the estimates came in quite a bit higher than I was expecting, but all essentially the same from three different companies. The part I feel most clueless about is all the equipment and what's necessary and what's total overkill. Would appreciate if someone can look at the below and let me know what you think. We're looking at about 60k to build this.

A "saltwater" pool is a chlorine pool. Just the source of the chlorine is from the SWG rather than jugs or tablets. Chlorine smell comes from the CC's in water that is not well sanitized and not from the chlorine. A chlorine pool with the proper water chemistry will not smell. Eye irritation is another indication of improper water balance. I suggest you read ABCs of Pool Water Chemistry

On your equipment ...

- you might want to skip the PB4SQ pump and Polaris cleaner They are expensive from the pool builder. Put in an electrical outlet by the pool and look into buying a robot cleaner. We have a section on Pool Cleaners where robots are discussed.
- 800lb jump rock is optional
- Aquapure salt kit - get a model number. You need the Aquapure1400 model. We recommend a SWG at least 2X your pool size.
- Jandy Cartridge filter - I would oversize that and get the 580 sqft - you will have to clean it less often.

Second on nixing the Polaris cleaner. Just partially finished first pool build and that is one small regret. The pressure cleaner we have is finicky and will likely be replaced shortly with a robot even though it’s brand new.

I don’t think you need 4 LED lights in a pool of your size. Where would the lights be placed?

2 or 3 lights should do the job.

Autofill is optional if you don’t mind adding water to the pool when it gets low due to evaporation. Autofill will mask pool leaks. You will have no indication until your water bill increases that your pool is taking an excessive amount of water.
