This is in the IntelliConnect manual, so according to Pentair, it sounds like you only need the RS485 connection, and the IntelliConnect uses the IntelliFlo status to Enable / Disable the SWG, not relying on the SWG flow switch:

"When an IntelliChlor or iChlor SCG is wired to IntelliConnect via RS-485, a power connection to the load side of the pump relay is not required. Digital commands sent from the IntelliConnect to the SCG will not allow chlorine production when there is low power or no power on the filter pump relay or when the IntelliFlo is not running."

The manuals are Crud and the 800 number you call will give you five different answers so heres what i have so far. Hope someone finds it useful and if I've got anything wrong can update me with some helpful tips.

I have 15k gal pool and i wanted to upgrade everything after a pump failure. I had traditional timer with a 220 feed from a double 20amp breaker in the house to pump and a transformer to a 12v light. I purchased Intelliflo vsf 3hp pump, clean and clear 150, ichlor 30, bioshield UV, intelliconnect, thermeau heat/cool pump and rebel cleaner/vacuum. You'll need so much more electrical and plumbing parts you'll wonder when it will end. My cousin is a master plumber and had a contract with local supplier so i got everything at cost. They say its cost, but some of the stuff was close to what you could buy online but remember you will pay shipping too. At least i didnt pay an installers mark up. Total cost for my major equipment was just under $6k which included 4 3 ways, check valves, temp sensor and some misc stuff. The heater and intelliflo being over half of that at $3600. They are offering $100 rebate on the pump, $50 rebate on the intelliconnect and $100 rebate on the rebel vacuum.

I ran #6 to a subpanel from a 60amp double breaker in house to a 50amp double, 20amp double and 20 amp single. A gfci outlet below. The pump needs only to communicate with the intelliconnect via the rs-485. you do not need to relay the pump. The pump must have constant power and should be in series with the swg so if the pump loses power the swg does not continue to produce chlorine. the ichlor does have a flow switch and will not make chlorine on too low a flow (check the manual for specific flow rate and set your pump accordingly). The flow switch is not disabled using the intelliconnect. currently i've only got my pump hooked up because my heater and uv light is not here yet. The pump is on my original 20 amp circuit breaker hardwired into the timer bipassing the timer function. This will also be where the swg is wired (for now this is what i've figured). I will be using a double 20amp for the intelliconnect power from the new mini panel i just ran leaving the single pull for the gfci outlet. The relays; one relay will be for the uv bioshield. second relay is for my pool light. i was told that the ameribrite led color bulb will sinc up with intelliconnect and you can change colors without placing a new line to the transformer. Cost of the 5g light is about $650 vs the bulb which is $190. This remains to be seen and i will update. There is a control for the heater on intelliconnect. You must have a temp sensor (availabe at pool store), you only need one so far as i can see. The fancier automation units, like Easy touch, require both air and water sensor but intelliconnect looks like just water and will go to "A". You must also connect "B" to the EXT line on the heater iteslf by removing the jumper wire and placing it in aux mode (this step may be different per heater) and setting your temps to the absolute minimum and maximum at the arrowed controls on the heater itself. This "B" wire 22 awg x2 will allow App to change temp up or down to the heater and give you a water temp reading. temp sensor should be placed between pump and filter. The other low voltage side (rs-485)is for the pump and the swg. left side two wires for pump and right side two wires for swg. next to those are "A" and "B". I'm not including a pic because there's already one in this thread above. You will need some 22awg minimum wire for the rs-485 swg connection to intelliconnect as they are not included. I opted for 18awg strainded two wire in sheath available at home depot.

Please tell me if you found this useful and or i have things way wrong. I pouring a pad for the heater tmrw and should have the heater and uv bioshield here this week. hopefully i will be fully set up by this weekend.

Is your pool indoor or outdoor? We don't feel there is a need for UV systems on an outdoor pool. The pool gets plenty of natural UV from the sun. In addition there is no way to measure the effectiveness of a UV system as it ages.

That is very helpful. Appreciate the detail info. Are you able to run the pump on multiple speeds or single speed. On the pump do you have to select the option for external control since you are running the 485 cable to Intelliconnect. Thanks in advance.

Your summary above is correct that the IntelliFlo should not be connected to one of the IntelliConnect relays. It should have its own dedicated power source. My pool builders electrician is coming out next week to run a dedicated line for my IntelliFlo.

Good Luck with the Install. I can tell you that Pentair was awesome when I reached out to them for help. They called me shortly after I submitted a ticket through the Link2O interface and were extremely helpful and thorough.

its outdoor and let me tell you the algae with the hot temp of the water is a real problem if you want to keep your chemicals at a minimum for your skin and hair. in addition the addition of the uv light will eliminate not only bacteria (read the news everyone is getting cripto in the pools, the bacteria not the smoke) but will also eliminate chloramines which is what you smell when you get that chlorine smell. I really want swg to make the least amount of chlorine possible. and its only $500 so what the heck. I think everyone should have one.
