Beginner problems

Bought an Intex above ground 18’x52” with an Intex Sand Filter and Pump model #SF80110-2. Purchased an Intex Auto Cleaner to clean the pool. I put the cleaner on the first time and it worked great. I used the auto cleaner a second time and I noticed while sand pump filter is on Filtration the cleaner does not go. When the pump is on Neutral the cleaner goes. What is Neutral? I can’t find any information online nor in the book provided. Any help I am grateful for. Thank you!!

Oh, I also put a Skimmer on the pool.

I am going to guess that neutral is bypassing the filter? So you are getting good flow so the cleaner can run.
But maybe on filter the sand is clogged up and you are not getting enough flow for the cleaner?

Is there a pressure gauge on the filter? Has it risen?
What does the water look like?
